A few years ago building a mobile app that consumed content from your Sitefinity website was challenging. That is why we introduced a Sitefinity Connector for Telerik Backend Services (Everlive). The main reason behind this was to improve developer productivity and ensure optimal performance of the mobile apps. The connector duplicates data from the Sitefinity CMS to Telerik Platform and the mobile app consumes data directly from there.
Things have changed since then, and now there’s an easier way to build mobile apps that consume content directly from a Sitefinity website. Today you can do this without content duplication and authentication workarounds—all thanks to the Sitefinity Web APIs (OData support) introduced in version 9.0, and the integration with the Screen Builder of Telerik Platform. Therefore, we decided that it is best for our customers that we discontinue the Sitefinity Connector for Telerik Backend Services with the upcoming Sitefinity 10 release next month, and focus those resources on improving the product in other areas. Support for existing users of the connector on prior CMS versions will be provided until Dec 1, 2017.
