The Challenge
The challenge was to implement BASF’s new corporate identify and in addition integrate an easily operated CMS. The previous website was set up in 2001 without CMS; some existing controls such as a Vitamin Calculator had to be included in the new site. New functions were also added – these included a link to an area of the BASF Intranet (also set up with Sitefinity) where news and events can be managed centrally.
The Solution
After the presentation by Sitefinity, BASF Food Fortification commissioned AAG to implement this project in full, thus making clear that Sitefinity is the right solution. The simplicity and flexibility of Sitefinity were just what the BASF executives were looking for.
The main benefit of the CMS implementation is the connecting of several Sitefinity projects within the BASF organization which operates many websites worldwide. For example, all news and events are managed in the intranet Sitefinity project. In the same time, the corresponding public internet sites are connected to the intranet project’s database and via custom controls it is possible to choose which of the news and events to show in which internet site. So one person can edit these posts from one place and changes are reflected on several sites.
Due to the fact, that all BASF sites derived from the same styleguide, a new site can be created easily by exporting an existing project. Sitefinity’s reusable templates and modules can be easily implemented for all BASF’s websites and portals.
The Results
BASF Food Fortification now has a clear, professional and easy-to-manage website with the advantage of a user-friendly interface for maintaining the modules and website. The effectiveness of the data structure and the easiness of editing save a lot of time and money for the customer.
The client’s satisfaction with the results demonstrates to us that we have got things exactly right with this project. We shall continue to work with Sitefinity in the future.
