    • Background:Svenska Mötens members and meeting places around Sweden are carefully selected. Unique meeting places that are different in appearance, environment and history. However, there is a word that applies to the entire group, it is quality.
    • Challenge: The challenge was to build a really fast site with good performance. As their website has many pages and sometimes many simultaneous visitors, this was an extremely important issue. The integrations with their other systems were also a requirement from the start.

    • Why Sitefinity: Svenska Möten chose Sitefinity CMS because they were looking for a modern CMS that works with CSS-driven design and manage search engine optimization in a good way.
    • Results: The choice of Sitefinity allowed us to deliver the best Swedish portal for booking conferences and meetings. Fully integrated with their booking- and CRM system. With Svenska Mötens over 100 member hotels can update their presentations and images themselves through an integration with their intranet.
  • Challenges and Objectives

    Svenska Möten previous site was from 2008 and based on TB-Server CMS. The platform was slightly out of date and the site were built using tables and frames instead of CSS- driven design. The large amount of unnecessary and old code did the 1800 pages site relatively slow, although it´s hosted on two dedicated servers.

    The Solution

    Svenska Möten consists of over 100 selected hotels throughout Sweden. All member are classified and selected because they offer the best conditions for meetings and conferences. Svenska Möten members represents about 25 percent of the total Swedish meeting industry and sales for more than two billion SEK spread over approximately half a million overnight stays. As the market leader, Svenska Möten takes responsibility to drive the industry's development, including strategy for meeting management for larger organizations. Svenska Möten are certified ISO 9001 Quality Management System, ISO 14001 Environmental Management System and OHSAS 18001 health and safety management.

    - The web has entirely taken over as the main channel in our marketing. We have over 15 000 visitors a month and it´s for these visitors we want to develop our offer. Our site is the main tool for searching conference and meeting facilities, so we let go of the printed catalog - which is also in line with our environmental commitment, said Johan Fägerblad, president of Svenska Möten.

    Tankbar has been responsible for the development of Svenska Mötens website since 1996. In addition to their public site, we have also built their intranet, which is also based on Sitefinity CMS. Their member hotels can update their presentation texts, images, available rooms and more. There are also document archive and activity calendar.

    Besides the standard modules in Sitefinity, we have built unique search tools and list views with filtering, each hotel has its own presentation page with tabs (Ajax) with information, images is presented in a jQuery Slide. We have also done an integration with Google Maps where you can see all the hotels.

    The Results

    The project with Svenska Mötens new site started in January 2010 with a customer survey. The new website was released in December 2010, so the total project time was almost one year. But the actual development first began in August 2010. The project involved one designer, one developer and one project manager. As many of our other customers, Svenska Möten had focus on increasing their Google ranking and spent a lot of time on search engine optimization. We estimate that their new site is approximately three times faster than their old site. The bounce rate is down with almost 5%. Average time on site is up by 10%. New visits are up 8%. The customer is very satisfied with the results so far.
