    1. Not sure if this is an issue or not, but it seems like the admin used to work in firefox but now it doesn't.  I'm using 2.0.0.1.  Specifically, the pages in the tree are not clickable and the nodes will not open.
    2. A bigger issue is that often when i'm editing a page, it seems to hang and the "Add Controls" button on the right never appears.  Sometimes it does and just takes a while but sometimes it just hangs forever.
    3. Also, if i'm editing a page, I get the "Update Conflict" exception if i hit refresh.

    Thanks,
    Craig

    Hello Craig,

I am afraid I am not able to reproduce the first and the second problems. Could you give me some additional details about these issues:
    1. You are saying that the admin worked but from some time ago it doesn't. Did you do something specific before the problem occurred?
    2. Also when the "Add Controls" image is not loaded?
    3. For how long the browser hangs on?

It is normal to get the update conflict error when you are editing page and refreshing the browser. For example this could happen if you are moving a control from one placeholder to another. This is so due to the fact that after refreshing the browser, you are attempting a postback once again. In this case the system rely that the control is in the original place but since this is not the case an error will be  thrown. Notice that the browser alerts you when you make refresh which causes postback.

Well, you'll be happy to know that the first two issues were not sitefinity at all.  Firefox started working again after I cleared its cache.  It was very weird, but several sites (not just my sitefinity site) had issues in Firefox until i cleared the cache.

The issue with the "Add Controls" button in the page editor was due to some javascript called "IE7" that was designed to make IE 6 more compliant:
http://dean.edwards.name/IE7/  We removed our reference to this script and the pages quit hanging.  I recommend to any other developers building sitefinity sites to test this script carefully with sitefinity or to not use it at all.

So the only other issue was when a user refreshes.  I understand what you're saying and i'll try to avoid refreshing that page in the future.  But i absolutely think you should look into testing SF against people refreshing pages, using back/next, etc.  These are common things that people will do and it makes your product look bad if it breaks when people use these browser features.  As a developer, i totally empathize with you guys on the difficulties in supporting these features, but people are bound to use them whether we like it or not.

Anyway, thanks for the support and i'm sorry if i wasted your time on the first two issues.  Sitefinity is making great improvements.

    Craig

    Hi Craig,

Thanks for the suggestion. We are currently working on improving the usability for such situations so that the user is not surprised with the results after clicking the refresh button and making extra postbacks. These changes will be shipped with one of our future releases.

Once again, thank you very much and have a nice weekend.

    Kind regards,
