    Firstly I would like to say that the new system is absolutely fantastic and I am loving the new approach you are taking to allow people to "plug-in" their own functionality, and I just can't get over how quick it is and it is sooooo nice to see no viewstate on the pages anymore!

    Anyway I have now finally had a chance to "play" fully with the latest beta and I have a couple of small bugs and feature requests, you will probably either have found these already but anyway and most of them are very minor issues.

    1. IE7 formatting issue: when you have edited a page and saved it as a draft the "View Properties Permission History" tabstrip is being positioned over the page and not in the correct page, it appears to be being pushed down by the "This page is saved as a draft message"
    2. IE7 formatting issue: When editing a control all the dropdown fields display incorrectly, eg if you edit the PollBox control when you click the BorderStyle dropdown the list of items isn't aligned with the control, it is about 10 pixels down and to the left leaving a big gap.
    3. Feature Request:  Would it be possible to have tooltip explaining what each property is for the lest technical users.  This would be re-using the Description tag of each property like in Visual Studio, then people building custom controls can set this themselves.
    4. CSS Issue:  I created my own Theme and Masterpage.  I noticed that for some reason the Control Toolbox was taking on some of the CSS that I had created for my theme, in the end I found it was because in the toolbox you were using a CSS class called "Content" which I was also using. Of course I renamed my class and problem was solved, but I would suggest that for the next release that you consider renaming your classes to something that isn't likely to clash with user's classes, maybe prefix everything with Sitefinity_ or something like that.  I of course am going to take my own advice and make my CSS names unique...
    5. Validation Bug:  When creating a new page I decided to test out the Optional URLs, so me being the inquisitive type I thought well it would be nice to be able to specify a folder instead of a file name... so I created this page call it Bars for instance, I then set the Optional URL from its default option, which by the way hadn't filled in the name I had already typed in..., anyhow I thought well it would be cool to put http://localhost/Site/Bars as the URL of course when I went to save it couldn't find it.  So if this is meant to be allowed it doesn't work, if isn't allowed then please could you put some validation on it.
    6. Being really Anal... : On Pages when you select the [Site Map] node in IE7 the home, reorder and delete icons are chopped off at the bottom.  And I notice to the right there is a random "or" written there... also there is a spelling mistake in the message above it, this is what it says : "Create new page or select exsiting one. "
    7. Create Page Bug:  This is a strange one... so I will have to tell you the steps to recreate this:
      • Click Create New Page
      • Set the Page name and Menu Label to Test, change the Page Template to anything and don't set a theme.
      • Click Save changes
      • Click Edit Page
      • Click Cancel Changes
      • The Page Template then gets cleared
    8. IE7 Formatting: On the create User page the text boxes don't line up with each other, Create this User button isn't an image like the other buttons in the system.
    9. IE7 Formatting: When editing the Generict Content control, on the load of the controls dialogue window the "Content Properties" tab strip isn't visible, if I tell the window to reload then I can see them".  Also when I paste some HTML I copied off a website the whole text box shifts up so I can't see the toolbar or anything about it.
    10. Bug:  Is is not possible to change the page title once a page has been published?  When I try to edit the title of a page that has been published it lets me type the new name but when I press save nothing happens... is this correct?

    That is all I have for now.  Please let me know if there is anything I have said which isn't clear or you don't understand.

    Hi Sean,

    Thank you very much for the nice words and thorough feedback. Currently, we are working hard on front end improvements, and believe that most of the issues will be fixed in the second beta.

    Concerning on 5th item "Validation Bug": I can say that this is not a Sitefinity problem. You just have to set your IIS to allow the Sitefinity Optional URL option. Here are the steps to do this:

    1. Open IIS and go to the Sitefinity 3.0 virtual directory;
    2. Right click on it and select Properties from the context menu;
    3. On the Virtual Directory tab click the Configuration button;
    4. Add the next extension in Mappings tab:
    Executable: C:\WINDOWS\Microsoft.NET\Framework\v2.0.50727\aspnet_isapi.dll;
    Extension: .*;
    Uncheck Check that file exists option;
    5. Save changes;

    Now the Optional URL option should work correctly.

    Please, note that the instructions listed above are valid for Windows XP only.

    I hope this information helps. If you come up with more questions, please do not hesitate to contact us.
