I understand that we are allowed to use the Nolics O/R Mapper for developing custom modules and such.  Do we have to download that seperately?  How do we use that in the context of sitefinity?

    Has anyone tried this?

    Thanks,
    Craig

No you don't need to download it separately. I am awaiting the custom "Jobs" module. This will be an open source module with documentation. The "Jobs" module is your best bet for understanding the complete module. The "Jobs" module was scheduled for release last Friday, but was not completed on time. Telerik did not specify a new release date for this module.

    Sincerely,

Well, i downloaded the trial version of Nolics, and it integrates into vs.net.  So it DOES seem to require a download for you to generate/map your own classes for custom modules.  However, I have a key that expires in 1 month.  I need to know how to get a permanent key for Sitefinity module development.

    Thanks,
    Craig

    Hi Fregas,

Generally, an OEM license for Nolics will allow you to make modules for Sitefinity using the Nolics tools. These tools will be installed along with Sitefinity and you will be able to use them straightaway. But if you want your modules to operate as standalone applications as well, or use the tools for other purposes, you will need to obtain a separate license from Nolics, as the code generated will only work in Sitefinity.

We regret to say that the licensing model is not ready yet and our sales department are still doing research. It is possible that not all Sitefinity editions come with Nolics license.

    Kind regards,
    Rebecca

Ah, so its something we're going to have to wait and see with the final release.  This kind of puts us into a bind, as I would like to try using Nolics for our current Sitefinity 3.0 work, but not if my trial license is just going to expire and then I won't have a license with our version of Sitefinity (we have the developer license.)
