    Hi Peter,

Can you please clarify what exactly you mean by 118n support? Did you mean i18n (localization of the admin part of Sitefinity) or multilingual content support?

In this instance that would be mult-language content.

    Hi Peter,

We are currently working on multilingual support and shared hosting environment. These will be included in the RC2 edition scheduled for the first half of April.
The offcial release will be about two weeks later.

    Hi,
Will I be able to use the current  RC1 version till the RC2 or official release ?
Will sitefinity or the RadControls expire before then ?.

I'm building 3 sites for a major client, and cannot wait till the official release. So far the RC1 version has been stable for my needs.

Don't worry, James, you certainly won't need to redo your entire site. We'll try our best to ensure a seamless upgrade from RC2 to the official release.

First half of April for RC2? Crikey it gets longer and longer. I bought a licence for this back in September 2006 when version 3 was planned for the first week in October. With the additions being promised it seemed like a good decision but in hind sight......

The RC does look good and its certainly on its way but its been a very, very long road.

    Hello Hibri,

There is no problem whatsoever to continue using the RC1 edition until the official release is out.
Your Sitefinity and r.a.d.controls trial licenses are not going to expire.

    Hello John,

We deeply apologize for misleading you.

Sitefinity 3.0 will be the base of a much larger project. That’s why we are investing a huge amount of effort to ensure we have a reliable and extensible platform. You guys have always been very helpful to us. Thanks to you we were able to discover many weaknesses in our design. That’s why it is very difficult to estimate the time as pretty often big parts of the application have to be completely redone.
This process is already becoming smoother and the estimates will become more precise as more and more parts are starting to fit in.

Thank you for your understanding and I hope we will be able to release a nice product pretty soon that you will really enjoy.

    Greetings,
    Bob

    Hello Peter,

I think it is inappropriate to discus long-term plans at the current stage but we promise to maintain a roadmap that covers at least a few versions ahead.

Great. Well, we are going to have to go live with a major site (i.e. thousands of site visits a day) on RC1 as well then at the end of March.  Whilst it has been stable enough in our development environment here - im really nervous about how it is going to stand up in a live situation.  Are there any major bugs needing fixing / performance issues that you know of that might catch us out?  Does it need / are you planning any more updates to this version to fix problems? Might you consider doing so know that you know people are going to have to "go live" with it.  Any information/reassurance that you can provide will be greatly appreciated.

    Paul,

RC1 does not support medium trust. We are currently working on this and Sitefinity will support it in the next release.

    Shaun,

I’m pretty confident you will not encounter any problems on the public side caused by Sitefinity. Most problems are concerning the site development process. Once the site is running, it should be fine. In fact ,there are already some live sites created with Sitefinity and so far we haven't had any issues reported.

    Hello Paul,

The official release is planned for April 23rd.
We are currently testing shared hosting environment and the RC2 edition, which is scheduled  April 5th, should support Medium Trust. We would be very thankful, however, if you help us test the RC2.

    Sincerely yours,
    Rebecca

    Peter,

Unfortunately, we will not be able to ship on time and the RC2 release is scheduled for April 23rd. We faced a lot of issues getting Medium Trust support to work and this delayed us quite a bit. While it may not sound as a really good excuse, there were quite a few big challenges that we had to overcome and at the same time we had to ensure that the stability of the product or its feature set are not deeply affected.

A piece of good news is the RC2 will include Lists and Blogs modules too.

Today our team and telerik's management made a very tough decision - if we do not ship an official Sitefinity 3.0 release by mid-May, every single one of our customers will get free updates for Sitefinity forever. And in the case we don't ship Sitefinity 3.0 by the end of May, we will provide all of you guys with free updates forever AND will refund your initial purchases. We hope that this demonstrates our commitment to finally ship the product.

    All the best,
    Rebecca

Beginning to get a little nervous now but am sure you're doing your best.

Can you confirm if the RC2 version :

    - is stable enough to develop with i.e any modules we create now will continue to work with the official version
    - supports multiple language content.

    Cheers,

    Peter

What is the Lists module? Is that a generic list module for multiple types of data? (e.g Contacts, Requests, Testimonials)

    Exactly, Ben.
Initially, we planned to create a FAQs module (see the attached file) but we later decided to call it Lists and make it more generic. It will provide a simple and efficient way of organizing contacts, interviews, testimonials, instructions, tasks, to- do lists, links, dictionaries, etc.

This module will let you create logically related list items, each of which has a title and a body. We will provide public controls to ensure the relation between these elements. In FAQ for instance, where each item consists of a question and answer, each question can be an anchor taking you to the answer further down the page; the answer can be expanded when a question is clicked; the questions can be on one page and each answer can be on a separate page, etc.

Rebecca, I read all the posts in this thread and am not sure to an exact launch date for version 3.

I *think* it is mid April?  Is that correct?

    Can't wait! Thanks,
