Since updating to 3.6SP1 Hotfix, my deployed development site will not render its home page if it's named 'Default.aspx'.  Instead the following renders:

Thank you for visiting our web site. Please return soon for updates.

If I name the file 'Index.aspx' or 'Anything-Other-Than-Default.aspx' it renders fine.  Unfortunately, renaming the file alone is not sufficient, since 3.6SP1 Hotfix won't let me redirect from Default.aspx to any of the other names for the home page.

Although the 'Default.aspx' bug still stands, I have an acceptable workaround for this issue that will get the home page and site navigation working again.

Copy the existing 'Default.aspx' page from the site virtual root to, for example, 'Index.aspx'.  Then, assuming you've called your home page 'Index.aspx' in Sitefinity, you can configure IIS to serve 'Index.aspx' as the 'Default Content Page' for your virtual directory.  Any links you had to the home page should now be updated to simply point at the site's virutal root, e.g., '~/' instead of '~/Default.aspx'.  In short, rely on IIS rather than Sitefinity to redirect to the correct page.

I must point out, though, that a direct browsing of http://your.site.com/Default.aspx will still result in the rendering of the 'Under Construction' page I cited earlier -- even if you add '~/Default.aspx' as an 'Addtional URL' of the 'Index.aspx' page.

    Indeed, same case here.
That bug and the fact we can not delete templates in SP1 are really annoying

    Cheers

I encountered this problem after upgrading, however I was able to fix it by clicking the default.asp in the sitemap tree under Pages and clicking "Set as Home Page"

It appears that the upgrade clears the home page, and so sitefinity defers to the dummy default.aspx page that is at the site root. Re-tagging the page in the tree seems to fix this.

I hope that this was helpful!

    SelArom,

Thank you.  Your advice, as always, corrected the 'issue'.  I feel somewhat foolish that I did not notice the absence of the 'Home' icon in the SiteMap myself.  On the other hand, I'm happy that this 'bug' was actually my inattention to detail, rather than an actual issue.

    Thanks again!
