    Hello,

I was trying to find a solution to another issue regarding the thumbnails don't display correctly (this post) and another issue appeared.

I'm using amazon s3 as repository of  my libraries (I followed the indications of MehFuz ) but I discovered that sf_VrsBinData  and sf_CmsBinaryContent keeps storing all the images and documents, so the database size is growing really fast.

If I delete the content of both tables, everything is still working fine so I assume those tables are not being used but, why then store the information?

Using amazon s3 is a great idea to save DB space but, is this as should be working, is this a bug or just a configuration setting I'm missing?

    Thanks!

    Jorge

    Hi Jorge,

Thumbnail data and metakeys are stored in local database. Unfortunately there is no work around for this in 3.x versions. I believe that this will be sorted out in Sitefinity 4.0.

    Thanks for your answer,

I did not mean just the thumbnails. I was asking about the full image.

From your answer... can I discard amazon as solution for saving database space?  . I think MehFuz should add this information in his post.

I was developing a web for a photographer based on the idea of using Amazon as storage, now I think I've a big problem. Any idea or just wait for the "long waited" 4.0 version of Sitefinity? Develop my own custom provider?

    Thanks,

    Jorge

    Hello Jorge,

We will work on a File Storage provider for 3.x and this could be the solution for you case. The next SP of 3.x is in the middle of March, after Q1. If we are ready with the provider we will release it with forthcoming SP.
