    Hi all,

I like Sitefinity very much, but I have a few concerns about performance (when compared to sites that we have written from scratch). In particular, the admin pages are very slow. The slowest page seems to be in the Events admin module...

There are about 250 events in our Events admin module, spread over the next month. When I try to switch to Calendar view in the admin module, it takes about 25 seconds on my local development machine (new PC, SQL Server 2008), and nearly 3 minutes on the production server (SQL Express 2005).

I have used the SQL Server Profiler and Database Engine Tuning Advisor to check the queries being run, but they were not able to offer any suggestions for additional indexes. Can anybody suggest any further measures I could take to improve the performance of this page, and of the admin pages in general?

    Kind regards,
    Adrian

    Hi Adrian Stovold,

The RadScheduler used in the backed is bound to the Server with Object Data source. The only way to optimize its performance is creating a new view with custom RadScheduler bound through web services. You may find the following links useful

    Scheduler / WCF Web Service
    Scheduler / Web Service
    Web Service binding

As for the backend, currently it is not possible to optimize it due to the way all controls are bound and internal dependencies. Significant changes in the performance will be made for Sitefinity 4.0 where the whole backend will be build with WCF and client side bindings.
