I'm having trouble uploading FLV files to a custom library in the Sitefinity 3.6 Images & Documents module. Every time I upload the FLV, I get stopped with the following error:

    The following files:
    ColoCAppc2_260x195.flv
could not be uploaded because it is not a valid browser viewable image. Image gallery should contain only browser viewable images.

How can I allow the uploading of FLV files? I already verified the custom lobrary is set to allow ".*", and I also tries adding .flv to the video library, which didn't work.

Please help, we're trying to stop storing the FLV files in our web project.

    Thanks, Mike

    Hello michael,

I am not able to reproduce this problem. Please take a look at attached video. It seems that you are trying to upload the item to image library. The ArgumentException is thrown because your library supports jpeg, png and gif.

As I said above, this is a custom library, not an image library. Is there anything else I can do?

    Hi michael,

Since we are trying to determine the mime type of the uploaded item, I think there is a problem either in the flv file or in Sitefinity. We do not count on the extensions in order to detect the file type.

Can you please send us this flv file? I doubt that you have problems with other flv files, so there should be something wrong in the specified one.

    Sincerely yours,
    Georgi

It angers me to say it, but with no explanation as to why, this seems to work fine now. *facepalm*

I'll reply if I have any further issues. Thanks for getting back to me so quickly.

    Hi michael,

Perhaps if you use another browser, it submits the mime type correctly. In any case, do let us know if you face further problems.
