this error is driving me insane. the way my shared hosting works, I have to backup the database, restore it locally, make changes, back that up, then restore to the live site.

I've done this to upgrade to 3.6 sp2, and it works fine locally! but when i upload it, the remote site still throws this error!

what am I doing wrong? this is the community version by the way

funny thing is the site loads (www.selarom.net) but when I try to publish a blog, I get the error!

    Hello SelArom,

Can we see the exact error you are getting. Any stack trace or error log? The error is InvalidOperationException. It is thrown from one of the providers on Initialize method. It could be result of insufficient permissions for setting variable SchemaVersion  when upgrading odbProvider. If you do not have unrestricted permissions during upgrade over the database you can get this error as well. You can also check your current Sitefinity version( check the version in your database).

    All the best,

the stack trace from the error is below... but if the database upgrade runs fine locally, and then I push that to the server, why is it trying to upgrade again?

    Hello SelArom,

The Versioning provider of each module upgrades the tables for this module the first time when a content item is created. This could happen in full trust only as well.

Please consider creating at least one item in this module in full trust.

nope, this did not work. I backed up the remote db, restored it locally, then ran the website, and added a content item to each module, including blogs.

I backed up the local db, then restored it remotely. now I get a popup with the error in it. here's a link to the screen capture:

when I add an item, the same error happens as above. what else can I try?

ok, well i believe i've narrowed it down to db error, and am working with the host to resolve. likely not a sitefinity issue, sorry!
