    Hi

One of our websites uses Sitefinity 3.7 and the search feature. Auto indexing is enabled and yet when we do a search for a particular word for which we expect a news article to show up, it does, but when you click on View More it simply returns a 404 error.

We went in to Sitefinity and confirmed that the article still exists, it did.

We went to the actual article clicked edit and save twice (we were checking something else as well) Now we have this URL appearing three times in the search results one of which is still showing up a 404 and the other two being duplicates.
Correction: Two of the indexed items result in 404 errors.
Why does this happen and how do we fix it?

The other post doesn't explain the 404 error?

Bottom line is... Will the IT administrators have to manually re-index the site each time an update is done because the old index item is not removed? And how is that this causes a 404 error?

    Hello J.Hoventer,

    1. You can get 404 if you have changed the news item url or the page where NewsView control resides.

    2. As you might have noticed from the other post the index is partially updated. If you want to update the entire index you have to do it manually or programmatically as shown in the referenced link.
