    Greetings,

We've encountered a strange problem, have tried to resolve it for a day but can't figure out a solution:

    1. Administrators have no problem editing pages.
    2. We've set up a user in the Editors group:
        - enabled global permissions for Editors (for testing purposes we've enabled ALL permissions)
        - enabled similar permissions on:
                - General Content
                - News
                - Lists
                - Images & Documenets
        - enabled similar permissions for Editors on Site Map (all pages)

    3. When a user who is part of the Editors group tries to edit or create a page, there are no problems.
When this user tries to INSERT A LINK or INSERT AN IMAGE (using the RadEditor) she's sent to the login page (a new screen opens within the RadEditor).

Repeat: the user has all permissions enabled. The user's only "problem" is that she's part of the Editors group.

Question: what do you need enabled in order to let Editors access the Insert Link and Insert Image dialogs.

We're working with Sitefinity 3.7. Problem is experienced both on our local computer and on the public server.

    Any help will be appreciated.

    Hi Chanan,

Could you check whether the user you use belongs to another role where deny permissions is set for a given right and this overrides the view/allow permission. Can you replicate the issue if you create a new role and a new user for this role. I checked the code of the selector, but in it we do not check for user's permissions, so the check should be performed somewhere before that or the issue is not related to the permissions.

    Kind regards,
    Ivan Dimitrov

    Unfortunately, problem is still there.
User is member of a single group (Editors).
Anyway, we went ahead and created a new group and a new user.
    Problem persists.
Administrators have no such problem, so it is obviously not related to file-system permissions on the dialog files.

Only thing I can think of is that the issue is related to workflow: we've recently enabled workflow for pages (allowPageWorkflow="true")
and for Events, News, Libraries and Generic_Content.

Another aspect that might make our sites different from others is that we use compiled localization sources (in Italian).

Could any of these be the cause?

    Many thanks in advance.

    Hello Chanan,

Can you check whether there are published pages and "Show in Navigation " for your pages is set to true. Do you use 3.7 SP4? The issue looks like related to the permissions since it is role related - administrators can insert link, but the other user cannot.  Have you made customizations to the dialogs?

    Best wishes,
    Ivan Dimitrov

    Thanks for responding, Ivan.
We're using an older version, 3.7.2022 (of Sept. 11, 2009).
And yes, we've made customizations to:
    - Sitefinity/Admin/ControlTemplates/Pages/Dialogs/LinksEditorDialog.ascx (to allow adding a target parameter)
But we've replaced it with the original file for testing purposes; still no luck.

I should say that Media Manager and Flash Manager open with no problem.
    Problem applies to:
    - Insert Link
    - Insert Image
    - Insert Document
Perhaps to help diagnose this thing, I enclose the screen capture of that error: we see a window entitled "ImageLibraryDialog".

Perhaps you could help us with a tip regarding why this window (ImageLibraryDialog) is called before redirecting to the LinksEditorDialog. I'm afraid it is meant to filter users by verify permissions (my guess would be Global ManageFiles permissions). Global Manage Files permissions are enabled for our Editors.

    Thanks again.

    Hello Chanan,

I will check the support request( bug report) you opened and get back to you. I saw that you attached several images there, so I am going to check the permissions you set and try to come up with a solution.

Just in order to put this thing to rest properly, in case someone else encounters the same problem:

We've called a person who used to work for us but is no longer with us, and he recalled adding a web.config file to the /Sitefinity/UserControls/Dialogs folder.

We've edited that file and... problem resloved.
I understand this file was added as a security measure to protect against unauthenticated direct access.

All is well now. Sorry for troubling everyone. And thanks for the Sitefinity team for their patient assistance.
