When I try to add an image to a generic content area i get the following error:

Error: editorArgs.pasteHtml is not a function
    Source File: http://fireball.unl.edu/sitefinity/admin/CtrlProps.aspx?sfctrlid=cfa5cb98-9727-4f1b-ace0-4d4025cfdfe3&sfdefclid=GenericContent1&sfpageid=fbd2c9a3-b2a3-412e-9da7-61d17a50fac7&rwndrnd=0.9093830000818182
    Line: 230

that log is from the Firefox Error log, IE just says: Error on line 229, object does not support this property or method. and doesn't actually load the image into the generic content area

    Hi Nathan,

I cannot reproduce this problem locally. Could you tell me which version you of Sitefinity you use and have you made any changes to the template of the GenericContent(insert/edit). You can send the template to us and we will test it locally. The error is strange, because pasteHtml (content) is function.

    Ivan,

This is on Sitefinity 3.6 running on IIS7 and MSSQL 2008 using a domain account.  I have not made any changes to the templates, which I assume means that it is still running on the standard internal template included in the dll.  When I look in the /sitefinity/admin/controltemplates/generic_content folder all I see is a template for ContentVersionView.aspx and its corresponding entry in the App_LocalResources folder.

I also get the error when trying to include a picture off of the file system, not just out of a gallery.

I just tried to add a document through the Generic Content control and received the following error:

    Error: args.parentNode is null
    Source File: http://admissionstest1.unl.edu/sitefinity/admin/CtrlProps.aspx?sfctrlid=cfa5cb98-9727-4f1b-ace0-4d4025cfdfe3&sfdefclid=GenericContent1&sfpageid=fbd2c9a3-b2a3-412e-9da7-61d17a50fac7&rwndrnd=0.2701406788847617
    Line: 255

When I try it in IE i get an Invalid Argument error on line 254.

Is there anything else I can do to try and help troubleshoot?

    Hello Nathan,

can you confirm that you are running Sitefinity 3.6 built against .NET 3.5 framework?

The problem seems to be in some Ajax functionality, and Sitefinity 3.6 (built against .NET 2.0) uses system.web.extensions 1.x, while Sitefinity 3.6 (built against .NET 3.5) uses system.web.extensions 3.5.

Judging by your system setup, it would look like you are running .NET 3.5 on that machine.

We are waiting for your response.

    Kind regards,
    Ivan

    Ivan,

Thank you for your response, here is the relevant System.Web.Extensions line from my web.config:

    <

    sectionGroup name="system.web.extensions" type="System.Web.Configuration.SystemWebExtensionsSectionGroup, System.Web.Extensions, Version=3.5.0.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=31BF3856AD364E35">

And under Properties->Build the project is set to target .NET 3.5

Please let me know if you need any further information.  Thank you.

    Pepi,

The version number on the Telerik.Web.UI.dll file is: 2008.3.1314.35

Is that the right version?  I will e-mail the web.config file to support (at) sitefinity.com, if it should go to a different address, please let me know

    Thank you

    Hello Nathan,

I have tried to reproduce the problem today using your web.config file, but I am not succeeding.

Could you please try to map the external templates, and use them instead of the build ones. Perhaps this could make a difference. Also, are you using the hotfix version, or the clean 3.6? You can check the exact version from the KB Article How to check your current Sitefinity version?.

If this do not help, we would not have an another option but to ask for your project.

    Greetings,

    Georgi,

I am very sorry for how long it took me to get back to you on this.  I have been out of the office fighting a virus for the past week.  The version of Sitefinity I am using is 3.6.1870.2 found by looking at the version tab of the properties for Telerik.cms.dll

As for mapping to the external templates are there instructions somewhere online that I can use to do this as I am not sure how to do what you are asking.

Thank you very much for your help on this, and again, I apologize for my delay in responding.

    Thank you

    Hello Nathan,

For the mapping you could check the following KB How to map an external template. The templates and sample config file can be downloaded from MyClient.net.

Let us know if the problem persists. We will try to come up with solution.

We are also randomly getting the

    Line: 118
Error: 'parentNode' is null or not an object

Javascript error when viewing some of our pages. We have this sneaking feeling that it's somehow related to editing content and then going to a page, but that could just be coincidence.

I realize it's been a while since I've commented on this, but wanted to at least let the Sitefinity folks know that updating to 3.6 SP1 appears to have fixed the error I was having.  I can now add images to generic content areas.
