    I am trying to use the Download List.
    But i get a strange error.
    When un checking the size checkbox. So that my list does not show the size of the file.
    I get "file()" displayed under the title.

    When it is checked you can see something like this: file(545.54kb)
    When unchecked the file size if removed, but the word "file()" surrounding it is not.

    How can i get rid of it. It looks really silly.

    Hello Andrew,

    Thank you for using our services.

    The brackets are not disappearing because they are just static text that is input in the control template for the list mode of the DonwloadList control. To remove them go to ~/Sitefinity/ControlTemplates/Libraries/DownloadList.ascx and comment/remove the following:
    <asp:PlaceHolder id="SizeWrap" runat="server"
        (<asp:Literal id="Size" runat="server"></asp:Literal>
    </asp:PlaceHolder>

    The file word is not part of the size but rather than saying the file is ".WAV file" for example. You can remove it by commenting/removing the following line:
    <asp:Literal ID="Literal3" runat="server" Text="<%$Resources:Items_File %>" />

    Finally just tell your DownloadList control that it has to use the edited template.

    If you have more questions, please feel free to contact us.

    Greetings,
    Rado

    Sounds perfectly logical.
    Funny thing though. I made the change and it did not work. No change. It looks almost as it is still using embedded templates.

    So i had a look at the advanced tab, in edit mode.
    And found something i have never seen before.
    "ItemListTemplatePath"
    I could have sworn i have never had to do this before, but now i have used this property to select the template, and it works.

    Is this a new future?

    Hello Andrew,

    ItemListTemplatePath property is used by the control when you want to map an external template. It is not a new feature. It was also available in version 3.6.

    I tried to create my own DownloadList template using the files from the external template packages. This just doesn't work at all... Only if I set the template through the settings of the control...

    <viewSettings hostType="Telerik.Libraries.DownloadList">
      <additionalTemplates>
        <add key="ItemListTemplatePath" layoutTemplatePath="~/Custom/Sitefinity/ControlTemplates/Libraries/DownloadList.ascx" />
      </additionalTemplates>
    </viewSettings>

    Hi Tom,

    Try using ItemListTemplate as a key or map the DownloadListDesigner and then DownloadList templates through it. You may find this link useful - Working with presentation modes.
