I am getting the following error when trying to access or search shared content from the Generic Content Control:

Invalid postback or callback argument.  Event validation is enabled using <pages enableEventValidation="true"/> in configuration or <%@ Page EnableEventValidation="true" %> in a page.  For security purposes, this feature verifies that arguments to postback or callback events originate from the server control that originally rendered them.  If the data is valid and expected, use the ClientScriptManager.RegisterForEventValidation method in order to register the postback or callback data for validation.

Is there a reason and fix for this please, thanks.

    Nugs

    Hi Duncan,

    Thanks for contacting us.

This error usually occurs if you force postback before waiting for the whole page to load. This is so due to the fact that ASP.NET event validation is enabled and the corresponding JavaScript code is located at the end of the page. If an attempt for postback is called before the page load, this script is not loaded yet and an error is thrown. In a nutshell, event validation is a technique used by ASP.NET 2.0 to ensure that the data being sent back to the server on postback is an expected value and is designed to help prevent injection attacks. Fortunately, there is an option to disable the event validation from the application web.config file. Add a page element to the <system.web> section and set the enableEventValidation attribute to false.

I hope that this solves your technical issue. Please contact us if you need further assistance.

    Thanks,

Actually i have tested this after searching the forums a bit...

    This occurs every time.

But what i found is if i access the Generic Content Module and add the content there, then access the control and use the share content, everything works fine... So that is how i will do it from now on instead of attempting to share the content from the control.

    Thanks

    Hello Nugs,

We have similar issue with one of our demo sites, so we actually have this error logged. We will reconsider it for fixing.
