    Hi guys,

I've installed Sitefinity 3.0 SP1 on Windows XP SP2 with SQL Server 2005 Express and am going through the user manual. Page 18 shows how to create a new project, however I get the following error right away:

Access to the path 'C:\Program Files\telerik\Sitefinity3.0\WebSites\TestSite' is denied.

I looked at the permissions of the WebSites folder and everything seems to be fine: the ASPNET account has full access. Folders of sample sites, JobsIntraSite and TIUSite, have idential permissions.

Just for the heck of it, I granted full access to Everyone. This time I got a progress indicator for about 30 seconds, but then it all failed with this error:

    Access is denied.

I'm not sure where to go from here and how to resolve these permissioning errors. I'd appreciate any help.

    Thanks!
    Milan

    Hi Milan Negovan,

Could you please check if the user you are logging in with has rights to create folders?

    Hope this will help you.

    Hello,

I have exactly the same problem as Milan and I also looked at the permissions of the WebSites folder. Everything looks ok to me and I don't know what to do. Any suggestions?

    Thanks!

    Hello Miran,

This error could be caused by the following:

•The user, with which you are logging in, does not impersonate to an existing windows account. Make sure that Integrated Windows Authentication is enabled and Anonymous access is selected for the Sitefinity3.0 virtual directory in the IIS.
•The windows account, to which the user is impersonated, has no rights to create virtual directories. Could you set up virtual directories under IIS manually?

    Hope this helps.

    Hello

    Still no luck...

I enabled Integrated Windows Authentication and Anonymous access, I was also sucessfull with manually creating virtual directorys under IIS. I'm still getting "Access is denied" error.

Is there anything else I shoul check?
I'm using iis v 5.1 under win xp and everything else works fine...

    Hi Miran,

Most probably it is failing to create the IIS web application. As a workaround I would suggest that you create the project manually. It is just a case of copying the files (the Empty Project folder), creating a virtual directory and then setting up the script handlers for the .tempate and .rss file mappings. You could find more information on how to configure IIS in the User Manual, chapter Configuring IIS.

Hope this is helpful. Let us know if you need any further assistance.

    Sincerely yours,

OK, problem solved. Created project manually as you suggested...

    Thank you for your time.
