We were trying to add a flash object to a generic content section. The problem is that it will not show up in the editor nor on the site. A solution we found on the old version of Sitefinity, was to use an iframe. The problem with using an iframe in this version is that it breaks the javascript. If you add an iframe to an editor and click "I'm Done" and then try and go back and "Edit" the content, you get an js error.

I am not really sure why the flash will not play on the site. If you navigate directly to the flash file, it will play just fine in the browser but does not when used with the object or embed tags.

    Hello Jim,

If I understand correctly, you are trying to embed the flash with a javascript function. If this is so, you need to allow scripts in the RadEditor by setting the following in ~/Sitefinity/Admin/ControlTemplates/EditorConfigFile.xml file:

       <property name="AllowScripts">true</
    property>

If this doesn’t help, could you please give us more details to specify the problem:

    1. Exact browser version.
    2. Exact RadEditor version.
    3. Steps to reproduce the problem.
    4. End result.
    5. Describe what is wrong with the result.

Also, did you try using the RadEditor Flash manager? It inserts flash files in the editor's content area and uploads new flash files, which will be available for inserting.

We were trying to place some flash on a page. We used the Flash Manager to add the flash object to the page. When viewing the page the flash is not showing up. If you use a browser to go directly to the flash object, the swf file, then the flash object will play. Since the Flash manager adds the flash object as an embed tag, we decided to try to just code it ourselves using an object tag. One thing we found was that the radEditor was striping parts of the object tag. We placed some other elements inside the object tag incase the browser couldn't show the flash object. These elements were stripped by the editor.

Going back to one of our 2.5 sites, the only way we could get a flash object to show in our site was to use an iframe. We would just add the iframe directly into the radEditor and everything seemed to work fine. When trying to do the same thing in the v3.0, the iframe and flash will load, but then you cannot go back and edit the content. The javascript is throwing an error stating 'controlManager' is undefined. My next idea was to load the iframe dynamically using javascript. This works fine as the iframe loads, the flash plays, and the content can be changed. The only problem is that in FF, v2.0.0.6, the menu will not overlay over the iframe. IE doesn't seem to have a problem. I am sure that this could be just a css issue which I haven't worked out.

One other option I tried was to load the object tag dynamically using javascript. In FF, the flash won't render but you can right click in the area and the flash context menu will show. In IE when you right click, it says that the flash did not load. I am not sure why this is not working. We added the same object tag to an html file and everything works just fine. I am not sure what is the underlying cause, but it is very frustrating.

We are using IE 7.05730 to administer the site and we are using radEditor 7.1.1.0 in the site. This post was more for the error we received when hardcoding the iframe in the editor. If you have any suggestions as for the flash not playing I am all ears.

After further testing it seems the flash issue was related to the flash file itself.

I am trying to add an iframe element to the content portion of a list.  I go into the content in HTML mode and then switch back to desing.  The ifram displays correctly, but then when I press "I'm done" the admin interface "hangs".  I can't add any new list items or even see any of the list interface GUI elements.  The only way to do anything is to click on another function (e.g. "generic content") and then click the "lists" button again so you can delete the list with the iframe.  Is this a bug or intentionally unsupported?

    Thanks
