    We have upgraded a client to 3.2 and the uploading images is much different. When we add an Image control to the page and choose to upload an image, it gives us the option to save it to "~/Images" or to a library. We don't want to use either of those options. We have a content folder that we have set up for this purpose. Is there a way to use the older control or to set this to go to a different folder without using a library?

    Thanks,
    J.R. Garcia

    Hi J.R.,

    Thank you for contacting us.

    Version 3.2 is a bit different, so we took a look at this issue and we came up with a simple solution. Please follow the steps bellow in order to achieve the same functionality as in previous versions.

    1.Open your web.config file.
    2. Find the following row:
    <add key="System.Web.UI.WebControls.Image"
     value="Telerik.Libraries.WebControls.ImageEditorDialog, Telerik.Libraries" />

    and replace it with this one:
    <add key="System.Web.UI.WebControls.Image"
     value="Telerik.Cms.Web.UI.Design.ImageControlDesigner, Telerik.Cms.Web.UI"/>

    4. Save and test your project.

    Let us know about the result.

    Greetings,

    This seems to work as needed, but there doesn't appear to be a place to choose where to set the path where you want to store the file. Is there a way to set the path for this (right now it is just dropping images in the application root)?

    Thanks,
    J.R. Garcia

    Hello J.R. Garcia,

    Unfortunately you are right. From the designer of the Image control there's no way to select where the images will be uploaded. You would have to revert to uploading them through the File manager and then only selecting the path in the image control. In your first post you are talking about some "old way" and I'm not sure what you refer to. If you give some more details what is this old way we can help you achieve it. Please excuse us for the inconvenience this caused you.

    Kind regards,

    Hi J.R. Garcia,

    Actually, the control used for upload in the old designer for the Image control is the same used in the File Manager. So in fact the behavior is also the same, and you can select where to upload the files, but you have to navigate to that folder before you click the Upload button. It IS confusing, and that is why we changed the designer, but we've omitted this scenario. We've added a task in our to-do list for improving this functionality in some of the next releases. I'm sorry for the additional confusion in the ticket.

    All the best,
    Slavo
