All of a sudden now when logging into the Sitefinity Admin control panel, instead of being sent to the dashboard after authenticating we are receiving the following 404 error page:

    Server Error in '/' Application.

    The resource cannot be found.

Description: HTTP 404. The resource you are looking for (or one of its dependencies) could have been removed, had its name changed, or is temporarily unavailable.  Please review the following URL and make sure that it is spelled correctly.

    Requested URL: /Sitefinity/Admin/Default.aspx

Version Information: Microsoft .NET Framework Version:2.0.50727.3615; ASP.NET Version:2.0.50727.3618

Before this was not so. Please advise.

    Hi gohigher,

The user you use does not have permissions for the backend or less possible reason is that you do not have handler mapping for .aspx in IIS.

    Best wishes,

The .aspx mappings are there as we get to the login.aspx pages and the main website is working.
Also it is the same admin user that has always had permissions.

    Hi gohigher,

Then check whether you have - /Sitefinity/Admin/Default.aspx in the project. Can you try to access on of the modules by making a direct request to them http://host/Sitefinity/Admin/Modules.aspx?module=News

This looks  like as a permission issue. Do you run the project through IIS or VS Web Server. Can you try to do it from both the instances?

    All the best,
    Ivan Dimitrov
