    Hello Telerik Team

    I have upgraded a website from version 3.2 to 3.5 on our production server. After this upgrade the users are not able to login anymore.

    On our development server I don't have this problem after the upgrade.

    Have you any idea where I need to look for to solve the problem?

    regards
    Luc Baeten

    Hi Luc Baeten,

    Could you please check if the project on the production server is running under Classic.Net application pool? If not, please make it so and then try to login again.

    Let us know about the results.

    All the best,
    Georgi

    Hello Georgi

    This website was already running perfect under version 3.2. It is running in a created asp.net pool. (Not Classic.NET pool becuase it is an older version of IIS).

    Kind regards
    Luc

    Hi Luc Baeten,

    Could you elaborate on if there is an error message if they provide wrong credentials, and if they provide the real credentials while logging? We do not have such a known issue, but want to have some more details about the problem.

    Sincerely yours,
    Georgi

    Hello Georgi

    It took a while because I can check the upgrade of the website on the production server only in the weekend.

    If they provide wrong credentials, the user gets the message that the login was not successful and that he has to try again. This is correct behaviour.

    When they provide correct credentials, the user gets the messages 'User <loginname> is not allowed to view this page. Sign in as a different user or contact the administrator'

    When I specify the customErrors parameter mode='Off' in the web.config, the user gets the message '

    This type of page is not served.

    Description: The type of page you have requested is not served because it has been explicitly forbidden.  The extension '.aspx' may be incorrect.   Please review the URL below and make sure that it is spelled correctly.

    Requested URL: /cms_hrc-international/sitefinity/cmsentrypoint.aspx'

    when he defines correct credientials.

    This problem occurs only after the upgrade from 3.2 to 3.5.

    I hope this helps to solve the problem.

    Kind regards
    Luc

    Hello Georgi

    An addition: I have restored the database from the production server on the development server. Now I have the same problem on the development server too. Before this restore action I didn't have the problem on the development server.

    Luc

    I have the same problem just like Luk has. Sitefinity does not accept my classic user authentication ticket. My authentication code block is below.

    Interesting point is that i have no problem when i created the secure folders and pages physically. I created a "member" folder. Then  myprofile.aspx without sitefinity "pages" module. I created them physically. I saw that form authentication can work correctly.

    Then i delete this file and folder. And started to create "member" folder(as a page group) , and "myprofile page"  in "members" page group  (as a page, with denying anonymous access) .. After this i got the error message below. What should i do to make sitefinity accept my authenticationticket ? What should be the reason for this ?

    Thanks....
    Mesut.

    string

    role = "spacer";
    FormsAuthenticationTicket ticket = new FormsAuthenticationTicket(1, space.ID.ToString(), DateTime.Now,

    DateTime.Now.AddMinutes(30), false, role, FormsAuthentication.FormsCookiePath);

    // Encrypt the cookie using the machine key for secure transport

    string hash = FormsAuthentication.Encrypt(ticket);

    // Name of auth cookie

    // Hashed ticket

    HttpCookie cookie = new HttpCookie(FormsAuthentication.FormsCookieName, hash);

    // Set the cookie's expiration time to the tickets expiration time

    if (ticket.IsPersistent) cookie.Expires = ticket.Expiration;

    // Add the cookie to the list for outgoing response

    Response.Cookies.Add(cookie);

    Hello,

    Could you please check the following:
    • The problem could appear if you have denied View option for Everyone role and it affects all other authenticated users( from other roles except the admin role).
    • If the users that want to login have CmsAccess permissions
    We are looking forward for your replay.

    Hi Georgi

    There are no permission settings defined anymore ?? I have to check an older database (from before the upgrade) what permissions were defined exactly.

    I and my collegeas haven't changed anything in the permission settings. Could the permission settings be changed during the upgrade?

    Regards
    Luc

    Hello Luc Baeten,

    There should not be any changes in your permissions after the upgrade, if there is, this should be a bug. If I understand you correct, you cannot login with any user, is that so? Even with the administrator account?

    Hello Georgi

    I only can login with the administrator account. With all other accounts I am getting the message 'User "<username>" is not allowed to view this page' (in IE7) and 'This type of page is not served. Description: The type of page you have requested is not served because it has been explicitly forbidden.  The extension '.aspx' may be incorrect.   Please review the URL below and make sure that it is spelled correctly. Requested URL: /cms_hrc-international/sitefinity/cmsentrypoint.aspx' (in IE6).

    This is only when I have the upgraded version (3.5) of the website. In the website with Sitefinity 3.2 this problem doesn't occur.

    Hello Georgi

    I investigated the problem further.

    It has something to do with the way the permissions are defined. In the website (that needs to be upgraded) there are pages where the security setting 'anonymous access' is denied. For these pages no permissions were defined for the role 'everyone' (nothing is checked).
    Specific defined roles (role1, role2 etc) have the 'View' permission defined for these pages.

    In Sitefinity 3.2 these permission settings were enough to give role1, role2 etc the permssions to view these secure pages.
    In Sitefinity 3.5, however, it isn't enough anymore. In Sitefinity 3.5 the role 'everyone' needs the View permission too, to give role1, role2 etc the permssions to view these secure pages.

    Kind regards
    Luc Baeten

    I am having this same issue in 3.6.  In order for my role's to get access to Deny Anynomous pages, I have to add them to the default "administrators" account that comes with sitefinity.  Even my other superuser Role's that I have made will not grant the access. It moment I take them out of this role, I get this error on every non-public page:

    This type of page is not served.

    Description: The type of page you have requested is not served because it has been explicitly forbidden.  The extension '.aspx' may be incorrect.   Please review the URL below and make sure that it is spelled correctly.

    Requested URL: /sitefinity/cmsentrypoint.aspx

    Adding View to everyone did resolve my issue.  A this point, I have no idea what to try.
