    Hi all,

    We are using sitefinity 3.7 and in the last couple of days our blog module has just disappeared! I have looked in the usual places to see if it has been disabled and made sure the dll is still there. A co-worker was only looking at it about 3 days ago and next login it was gone :(

    Does anyone have any idea where it may have gone?

    Any help/guidance is appreciated.

    Thanks

    Jodie

    Hello Jodie,

    Check whether all required Blogs module attributes exist in your web.config file (you can make a merge with the default not modified web.config file). You can check the error log if there are some errors that causes the module to disappear. You can also try to access the module directly through the browser bar

    http://domain.com/sitefinity/admin/Modules.aspx?module=Blogs

    Hi Ivan,

    Thanks for your reply. I have compared a newly generated web.config with our current one and they are identical as far as blogs go. Navigating to http://domain.com/sitefinity/admin/Modules.aspx?module=Blogs gives our custom 404 page.

    Any other ideas?

    thanks in advance

    Jodie

    Hi Ivan,

    Sorry, I just looked at my email and when going to the url http://domain.com/sitefinity/admin/Modules.aspx?module=Blogs, it actually threw an error not 404 and this is the trace for the error:

    Hi Jodie,

    The error says that the module does not exists. You will get the same error if you type in the url  bar not existing module. Are there any errors related to the problem in the Sitefinity's error log located in App_Data folder. If possible send us the project or sample project that illustrates this behavior (you can provide an external link from where we could download it). The problem is quite weird and it cannot arise if you have not changed something in the bin folder or in the web.config file.

    You could also try to create a simple test by adding the following code to App_Code folder. This will crate a new moduel that derives from Blogs and will have the same functionality.

    public class CustomBlogs : BlogsModule
    {
        public CustomBlogs()
        {

        }

        public override string Name
        {
            get
            {
                return "NewblogsModule";
            }
        }

        public override string Description
        {
            get
            {
                return "NewblogsModule";
            }
        }

        public override string Title
        {
            get
            {
                return "NewblogsModule";
            }
        }
    }

    Sincerely yours,

    Hi Ivan,

    Just thought I'd let you know in the end we did a clean install of sitefinity 3.7sp2 to fix the blog as it was a real mystery. There are 3 of us working with the site so it is quite possible something was changed that caused this however we have no idea what it was.

    Thanks for you help

    Jodie
