I was expecting a site maintenance option inthe admin section to put the whole site under maintenance with a messsage. I couldn't find it anywhere but I thought I have seen some where. Do we have the option hidden somewhere for 3.7 SP4?

    Thanks

    Hi VIJAIANAND,

There is not an option out of the box that allows you to put the website in maintenance mode. You can add App_Offline.htm page in your project root which will take it down for a while or implement custom IHttpModule as described in  this thread - how do you take a site offline?

    Kind regards,

ok! I will try to convert the code to Vb.net and check it out unless you have the converted code. Whats the link for code converter btw?

Also how to active it or set the mode to offline? I don't see any key or flag in the webconfig you mentioned.

    Hi VIJAIANAND,

Here is the link to the converter. The sample shows how you can use HttpHandler to take the website off. There is no configuration flag set in the web.config. If you want you can implement it.

    Best wishes,

Ok. I will try. About the appofline.htm file, you said it will take it down for a while means does it have limitation or it will be down until we remove it? Also does it have to be .htm file and can admin section be able to accessed?

Also, I couldn't able to do exact conversion of the code from C# to VB. Getting lot of syntax and class errors. If you can help, that would be good. I don't see the imports needed for the objects as well.

    hello

I tried the app_offline.htm strategy and it works but couldn't able to access the admin section. So I tried the httpmodule strategy but stuck in the middle. In VS2008 application model, there is no app_code directory and everything gets complied as one dll. So its not able to identify the module. What to do?

    Hello VIJAIANAND,

You could add the handler as a class of a class library.
