Operating System: Windows 7 Ultimate Beta 1 (Build 7000)
    - Configuration: I've set up Windows 7 with what I've read on the installsion guide assuming the installsion would be the same.
Internet Browser: Microsoft Internet Explorer 8 Beta 2

    Greetings,

I've installed the standard version of the Sitefinity 3.6 Beta from a post on the official annoucements forum, and I've successfully installed it on my computer. I don't know what I've done if this is my fault, but I obtain the following error in Internet Explorer which I've encountered before on some other application (DotNetNuke).

    Server Error in '/telerik' Application.

    Configuration Error

Description: An error occurred during the processing of a configuration file required to service this request. Please review the specific error details below and modify your configuration file appropriately.

Parser Error Message: Could not load file or assembly 'Telerik.Framework' or one of its dependencies. The system cannot find the file specified.

    Source Error:

    Line 149: </eventMappings>
    Line 150: <providers>
    Line 151: <add name="Simple Web Event Provider" type="Telerik.Utilities.TextFileWebEventProvider,Telerik.Framework" logFileName="~/App_Data/sitefinity.log"/>Line 152: <add name="Simple Web Buffered Event Provider" type="Telerik.Utilities.BufferedTextFileWebEventProvider,Telerik.Framework" bufferMode="Notification" logFileName="~/App_Data/sitefinity.log"/>
    Line 153: <add name="Code Benchmark Provider" type="Telerik.Utilities.CodeBenchmarkTextFileProvider,Telerik.Framework" enabled="False" logFileName="~/App_Data/performance.log"/>

    Source File: C:\inetpub\wwwroot\web.config    Line: 151

Assembly Load Trace: The following information can be helpful to determine why the assembly 'Telerik.Framework' could not be loaded.

WRN: Assembly binding logging is turned OFF.
To enable assembly bind failure logging, set the registry value [HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Fusion!EnableLog] (DWORD) to 1.
Note: There is some performance penalty associated with assembly bind failure logging.
To turn this feature off, remove the registry value [HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Fusion!EnableLog].

Version Information: Microsoft .NET Framework Version:2.0.50727.3521; ASP.NET Version:2.0.50727.3521

Is there need for any more information, is this a common issue, or what? I have the Telerik.Framework.dll, and this is on the Blank project, but I have the some problem with Project Manager of Sitefinity 3.6 Beta, too.

*Sitefinity 3.6 Beta works on Windows Server 2008 VM I have on Virtual PC, but due to the drag and drop error I receive (d3), I can't use any files on the server that I want on my host.

    Hello Kevinul,

We haven't tested Sitefinity on Windows 7 yet, but looking at the error, I assume that the project is:
    • Running in medium trust. Please try to grant Full Trust, or follow the steps in the User Manual, section Medium Trust support
    • Grand Read permission to the Asp.Net worker account, over the project's bin directory and Read/Write access to the project App_Data directory.
Let us know about the results.
    All the best,

May I ask how do I complete the second method you suggusted about an ASP.NET Worker, and it's permissions? I don't have the account in my permission account list, and I don't know how to do what you advised.

Also, I do have Full Trust as I can see on the IIS 7 Manager for "Default Web Site", "telerik", and "Sitefinity36". I don't think that would be the problem.

    Hello Kevinul,

    Here are the steps:
    1. Right click on the project directory -> Properties
    2. Go to Security tab -> Add
    3. Type yourdomain\Network Services or just Network Services, if you are not part of a domain controller.
    4. Check the "Full Control" checkbox for this account. Note that this should be Read Access only, if the site is live, but we may use for local tests and development.
    5. Click Apply-> Ok. Restart IIS and try to load the web site again.

Okay, that was too simple that NETWORK SERVICE was the account that I was looking for. ;-)

Now I have another problem after I edited the permissions of NETWORK SERVICE. I receive an error which is the following.

    Internet Information Services 7.0

    Error Summary

HTTP Error 500.19 - Internal Server Error

The requested page cannot be accessed because the related configuration data for the page is invalid.

Links and More InformationThis error occurs when there is a problem reading the configuration file for the Web server or Web application. In some cases, the event logs may contain more information about what caused this error.

    What can I do now?

    Hi Kevinul,

I think that the following article would help - 500 - Internal Server Error.
Let me know about the results this time.

Hmm, thank you. I've been able to access the Project Manager after allowing all ISAPI unspecified as what I've seen on the Sitefinity Troubleshooting article I could not find the Web Service extensions node as this is IIS 7. Now I've lead into a roadblock of "Unable to copy project files: Access to the path 'C:\Program Files (x86)\telerik\Sitefinity3.6\WebSites\ForeKeenNetworkPrototype' is denied." Any suggestions?

    Hi Kevinul,

It seems that the user under which you run the project manager is too weak, when it comes to permissions. I am still not sure what the default user rights are in Windows 7. You can try to run the browser as Administrator - right click on its icon, and click on Run as Administrator.

You can also try to create the project manually. Just download the EmptyProject.zip file from your Client.Net account, extract it somewhere, create a virtual directory in IIS and point it to the extracted files.

    Kind regards,
    Georgi

    Hi,

I went to try to enable 32 bit option, but there is no such one. Maybe because my Windows Server 2008 is 32bit version! The problem is I am still getting the error:

    Hello Angel,

This problem can occur when the specified portion of the IIS configuration file is locked at a higher configuration level. To resolve this problem, unlock the specified section, or do not use it at that level. For more information on configuration locking, see the following article: http://learn.iis.net/page.aspx/145/how-to-use-locking-in-iis-70-configuration

    Hi Ivan,

I've already checked that link before. But where is that <location> tag? Is it in the application web.config?

    Hi Angel,

The location tag should be added by you as described in the linked article. You should lock system.webServer config section. This forum thread discusses the same topic.
