I am a new user of Sitefinity and would like to know why I am getting this error. I have followed your instructions to the letter about how to install the programs and how to set up Vista but when I go to load the program I get the program error even with the browser "run as administrator'. I get the load page for the "username" and "password" but nothing i put in works and it just reloads the page. If i cancel the operation I get the message below.

I have also tried your work arounds but they did not help either. Please help as I have a few sites that I would like to Sitefinity for.

    Good morinng,

I was receiving an error message regarding my Sitefinity to SQL Server 2005 connection.  I went into the Inetmgr per one of the threads.  I changed a couple of settings (Web Sites properties, Directory Security, Authentication and Access Control), but it did not work.

I changed the settings back to their default, and now I am receiving this error when trying to edit a project ...

You are not authorized to view this page

You do not have permission to view this directory or page using the credentials that you supplied.

    Please try the following:

    • Contact the Web site administrator if you believe you should be able to view this directory or page.
    • Click the Refresh button to try again with different credentials.

HTTP Error 401.1 - Unauthorized: Access is denied due to invalid credentials.
    Internet Information Services (IIS)

    Technical Information (for support personnel)

    • Go to Microsoft Product Support Services and perform a title search for the words HTTP and 401.
    • Open IIS Help, which is accessible in IIS Manager (inetmgr), and search for topics titled Authentication, Access Control, and About Custom Error Messages.

Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated as to how to reset my default setting.  Thanks ~ Stephen

    Hi Stephen Bosco,

Please take a look at the following articles

You receive an "HTTP Error 401.1
FIX: "HTTP error 401.1 - Unauthorized: Access is denied due to invalid credentials"
    http://forums.asp.net/t/1296558.aspx

The error you are getting is not related to your SQL server or Sitefinity itself.
