After setting the home page, it's not taking it. I get a 'directory listing denied' error message.

    Hello Michael,

This error could be thrown if you do not have handler mappings for *.aspx extension in IIS or anonymous access to the virtual directory of the website is disabled through IIS.

    All the best,

    Hello Michael,

Could you run the website through Visual Studio web server to see whether you will get "directory listing denied".

Locally, I don't get the same error (when running it via the VS.NET web server).

    Hi Michael,

So, the problem is with the directory permissions of your IIS server as suggested in the previous post. The issue has not been caused by Sitefinity.

Hmmm, except nothing has changed in IIS. It suddenly stopped working, without any changes to permissions whatsoever. Odd.

I checked the permissions: the home page is set to allow View for Everyone, and I belong to Domain Admins.

So, not sure what it can be.

I  found the problem: there has to be a phyiscal default ASPX page, even if SiteFinity overrides it with the one in the database. So, I just created a blank Default.aspx and uploaded it--viola.
