Our sitefinity is no longer writing to its log file.  Can someone help me figure out why.  I believe that I have the correct settings in the web.config file.  Are there any other settings that I could check?

    Much Thanks,

    Hi Aaron,

I don't think we have such a known issue. Could you please try the following:

    1. Check the App_Data permissions. It is possible that you do not have a write access to the files in it. The Asp.Net worker process should have this access. You may check with what user your application is running on.
    2. Empty the log fie (copy its content to some other file, for example Sitefinity_old.log).

Let me know if this helps.

    All the best,
    Georgi

    1)  Ok I have given the asp.net user role on the server the ability to modify and write to the App_Data dir.

    2)  I have saved old log file data to a new file and emptied sitfinity.log.

After those two steps we restarted the server, still no success.  I did turn on the ~/App_Data/performance.log and it will write that data fine.

    Any other suggestions?

Just some more background on the issue.  The last time the log file was written to was when it was running as a local install.   The problem started after the site was moved to our webserver.

    Problem solved.

You were pointing us in the right direction with looking under user rights to the App_Data folder. The process was not running under the asp.net users though but we found out which user and modified it's rights to the app_data folder and the log writing is working.

    thanks for your help.
