    Hello,

    Im new with this CMS and I found myself on a huge problem, for some reason Im unable to change the metadata info of the site, i.e

    Meta Title
    Meta KWs
    Meta Description

    I found a Head content option under page - properties, where it seems I can change the title, description and kws for a specific page, however when I use it, the title of the page does not change and a second description and kw metadata is placed in the code, please see below a sample code:

    <head><title>
    	XXXXXX
    </title><link rel="shortcut icon" href="App_Master/favicon.ico" /> <script type="text/javascript" src="/Includes/dso.js"></script> <!--[if lt IE 7]> <script defer type="text/javascript" src="pngfix.js"></script> <![endif]--> <link href="App_Themes/x/x.css" type="text/css" rel="stylesheet" />
    <meta name="Content-Type" content="text/html; charset=utf-8" />
    <meta name="Description" content="XXX" />
    <meta name="Keywords" content="XXX" />
    <meta name="Description" content="AAAA" />
    <meta name="Keywords" content="AAA" />
    <meta name="Generator" content="Sitefinity 3.5.1747.2:1" /></head>

    as you guys can see above, the KW and desc tags are repeated, the first 2 are always there no matter what, the last two appear only when I added info using the head content option, under properties, also the title never changes no matter what.

    Can anyone help me with this?? any idea of what is going on??

    Thank you in advance for your assistance.

    Regards

    Roger

    Hello Roger,

    Please check if the master pages which present your page's templates have Keywords and Description metatags. Open your website in Visual Studio and go to App_Master directory. There check if in the master page files there are set keywords and description meta tags. This should be the reason for duplicate meta tags. Other reason can be that there is some code adding description and keywords to the page meta data. Page's title is changed from page properties in section Head Content.

    I just checked all the master files and some of them have defined a <title> however it does not match with the current title that is on the site, also any of the master includes a desc and kw tag, if this is being added for another code, do you know how can I find it??

    Thank you again for your quick reply

    regards

    Hello Roger,

    The easiest way would be to check with the people that worked on the site before you. You can also open the website in visual studio and use its text searching functionality to search all files to see if keywords are added through code.

    thank you again for your quick answer, a final question as I confirmed any of the master files contains either the title or desc/kw tags that are on the site, this is a clear sign that another code is adding the metadata info??

    there is no other posible cause for this??

    Thank you

    Hi Roger,

    In Sitefinity UI there are two places from where you can add metakeys  and head tags

    -Page Properties section
    -Templates Properties section

    Another option is that you might have a custom /user control that adds the duplicate tags or forces a method of InternalPage class to do this.
