I've just completed one successful upgrade on one application then the second upgrade failed with the following error:

Could not load file or assembly 'Telerik.Framework, Version=3.6.1927.2, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=dfeaee0e3978ac79' or one of its dependencies. The located assembly's manifest definition does not match the assembly reference. (Exception from HRESULT: 0x80131040)

Description: An unhandled exception occurred during the execution of the current web request. Please review the stack trace for more information about the error and where it originated in the code.

Exception Details: System.IO.FileLoadException: Could not load file or assembly 'Telerik.Framework, Version=3.6.1927.2, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=dfeaee0e3978ac79' or one of its dependencies. The located assembly's manifest definition does not match the assembly reference. (Exception from HRESULT: 0x80131040)

    Anybody got any ideas?

    Hello J.Hoventer,

The located assembly's manifest definition does not match the assembly reference

Most probably the version of theTelerik.Framework.dll you have in not the same as this one refereed in your project. Then the referenced assemblies version has been changed and the application cannot find the correct dll. Check the project references and check your GAC to see what version is listed there. This Microsoft article states that assemblies found in the GAC are not copied locally during a build, so you might need to remove the old version before doing a rebuild all. Make sure that you have the correct dll in your bin folder

You can use the fuslogvw.exe application that is shipped with Visual Studio to get more information about the binding failures.

    Kind regards,

    Hi Ivan,

The Assembly in question is the Telerik.Framework, which is located in the bin folder. I followed the upgrade process by copying all the files across from your 'patch' and this was the result. Nothing in that procedure mentioned changing references.

What should we be looking at?

    Hello J.Hoventer,

Make sure that you do not have any assemblies referencing to this version of Telerik.Framework in your project. For example you might have a custom module referencing the old Telerik.Framework assembly in your bin folder. In this case you have to rebuild your custom module referencing it to the current version of Telerik.Framework which you use.
