Guys, I am getting some unexpected behavior from the CMS with any page that i put .Net validation controls on. I realized that i had to make any menus not cause validation.

Then, when i logged into the Sitefinity Admin and went to edit the page, I attempted to click 'Cancel Edit' while in edit mode and it would not go anywhere due to the validation controls.

I am not sure if anyone else is working with custom / user controls with data fields, but this obviously creates a no-go for that type of application at this point unless i'm missing a workaround?

    THANKS

    JH

    Hi Jason,

One work around I can think of is setting the ValidationGroup property of all of your validation controls in your usercontrol?  This was a new feature implemented for ASP.Net 2.0 that allows you to separate validation controls into groups so that you could have different Validation regions.

I tend to agree with you that this is a work around and that the Sitefinity menu controls should be in their own ValidationGroup to begin with so that it doesn't fire any validation contained in the page content.

    Cheers
    Sean

Nice, Sean. Thanks for the answer. Duh. Never heard of Validation Groups before.

That's gonna come in handy for sure, though.

    Thanks again,

    JH
