I am trying to test deployment to my production server.
I have created a new site from a blank project. With a database in an instance of sqlserver express, not in app_data folder as a file but rather as an actual database under localhost/sqlexpress.

I then created 3 simple pages with a blog. One entry. Then i copied the files backup up my database and transferred the files to the life server.

My server is running windows 2003 server software. I have unzipped the files. Restored the DB and given full access to the project folder to the “Network Service” user. I have also recreated the user in my db. I then created the web page in root in iis.

When trying to run the page it fails giving me the: “HTTP Error 403.1 - Forbidden: Execute access is denied.” Error.

I had other asp.net applications running on this server with no problems. Including a DotNetNuke application. The one i will be replacing with sitefinity if i can finally get it to run properly.

Can anyone help? This is really frustrating for me.

    Hi Andrew,

The problem seems to be related to your IIS configuration. Check out the following useful links below:

It is must be something more then simple IIS settings,
I have two other .NET apps running on the server.

Both of the other apps are on .NET 2.0 framework not 3.5.
Does that mean anything? are the some settings extra settings one has to set for sitefinity ?

I have rerun the aspnet_regiis to recreate the aspnet_client folder.
    But it made no difference.

    Hi Andrew,

Most probably your other applications are running in different virtual directories, right? Can you please try to place other application in this directory, or make it use the same application pool? We are still for our previous suggestion - if you are able to run the same application on different server, then the problem should be in the settings of server.

    Sincerely yours,
    Georgi
