We are currently evaluating the Sitefinity CMS.  I do have a question I need answered for my superiors to be more comfortable.

We are a school district with 70 schools.  We would like to use Sitefinity for our district site, and for campus sites as well.  The district site would be www.district.com, and the campus sites would be accessible as campus.district.com.

    1. Can one install of Sitefinity manage all of the campus sites as well as the district?

    2. Can we install Sitefinity once and manage all of the sites from one install, or will we need a seperate web site in IIS and Sitefinity install for each campus site?

    3. Will we need multiple licenses?  As I understand, one license of Sitefinity should be okay for the entire domain, but want to make sure I am understanding correctly.

    Thank you.

    Hi Anthony,

The district site would be www.district.com, and the campus sites would be accessible as campus.district.com.

Both links seems to be a subdomains of district.com. So your licence should be generated for the top level domain (district.com)

    1. Can one install of Sitefinity manage all of the campus sites as well as the district?
    2. Can we install Sitefinity once and manage all of the sites from one install, or will we need a seperate web site in IIS and Sitefinity install for each campus site?

Here you can use two options.

    - Install one website but make lots of Group Pages and link them as a subdomains - code sample can be found here.
    - Install several websites - then works with providers for managing all installations from one place.

    3. Will we need multiple licenses?  As I understand, one license of Sitefinity should be okay for the entire domain, but want to make sure I am understanding correctly.

You will need one license for the top level domain. There is no limit for subdomains of a domain.

    Kind regards,
