    Hi!

I made some optimization for my website on Sitefinity: minify JavaScript and CSS... But I can't minify time of loading page (page as resource). My page weight is 100 kb but it loads 3 seconds or more. Caching is enabled. What can you suggest in this case?

    Thank you.

    Hey Paul,

Have you tried re-sizing your images manually? Sitefinity HTML sizes your pictures, so even if you size the picture to 640 x 400 from 1028 x 840, the picture is still 1028 pixels. This re-sizing would dramatically decrease the load time.

    Hello,

Can you please provide a url of the page? We will inspect it, and the resources that are being loaded. Then we will be able to tell what could be optimized.

    Hi Geogri!

Please inspect some pages of my site: http://jurfak.spb.ru.

For example inspect my home page and some internal page. I don't understand what can cause so slow loading.

    Thank you.

    Hi Paul,

The main page load less then 3 seconds( 2.80 ms) without browser cache. With browser cache I opened your home page for 845ms. The first time when the page is requested all images are cached and this could take some time. Find below response bytes for png and headers

    RESPONSE BYTES (by Content-Type)
    --------------
     ~headers:    245
    image/png:    6,057

    Best wishes,

    Hi Paul,

I have checked the pages you mention, but the slow down comes from processing the page. Are these pages cached? Reloading them did not do any difference, so I guess all the controls are processed on every request. Perhaps you should cache them too.
You can also consider to enable the IIS content expiration filters.

    Hi Georgi!

This pages are cached. Can you suggest some links about IIS content expiration filters? How can I cache my controls on page (especially SitePanelBar which loads every time)?

    Thank you for your help!

    Hello Paul,

Please accept my mistake - I meant content expiration headers, not filters. Here is an article on the expiration headers - http://support.microsoft.com/kb/313561

You can also use content compression, hopefully it will reduce the download size of the generated html - http://www.sitefinitywatch.com/blog/09-07-10/Using_HTTP_Compression_with_Sitefinity.aspx

As for the panel bar, once the page is cached, the panel bar will not be processed anymore. The cache takes all the generated html (after the processing of the panelbar), so only this code is served on the next request.

    Hi Georgi!

I make some optimization on my site: I add gzip compression (but I can't find metabase.xml in Windows Server 2008), also I set expiration headers. But my pages load too slow. The main problem is the response from server. What can you suggest about this? And also I have a lot of css and js files. How can I combine them and compress?

    Hello Paul,

I am really not sure why the server does not respond for so long - I saw this too. Can you check if there is any "cpu spike" while the client is waiting for the request?

You can try to combine the scripts and css styles, as well to compress them by following these articles:

    Hi Georgi!

Thanks for the links about combining scripts and css.

When client is waiting for request Task manager shows 100% usage of CPU for w3wp.exe process? What can you suggest?

    Hello Paul,

There could be number of reasons for this issue - I am not sure what your controls are doing, and how many processing is involved. Is your site running in Integrated Pipeline mode? You can try to move the application to a separate application pool and increase the memory of the application pool.

Perhaps we can give you another suggestions, if we login to your web site and see the controls on the pages.
