I have a working sitefinity site on a production machine. I recently copied it down to a development server. Both are Windows Server 2008 with IIS 7.  We're using Windows authentication on both.   I made a copy of the production database and I'm pointing the new development site to the copy of the database. I also verified that all my IIS settings are the same on development as on production. The live site is created directly under my SharePoint site on both servers. I made sure I have the <location path="sf" inheritInChildApplications="false"> parameter in my web.config for SharePoint.

The admin site works - finally.  I can see all my pages in admin.  However, when I click the "Live Site" link I get "Internet Explorer Cannot Display This WebPage".

I also tried both sites in Firefox.  Again, I can access the admin site just fine. When I try to access the Live Site I get the following message.

    "Unable to connect

Firefox can't establish a connection to the server at ..."

I don't have this problem on production.

Has anybody else encountered this before?  Any suggestions on what could be causing it?

Interestingly enough I can get to my main page using the "Preview" link or by adding "?cmspagemode=preview" to the URL directly.

    Hello Cynthia Stilwill,

Can you please check if the web site is accessible with different protocol? Https? While the backend could be http, the front site could be with https. We had such a report recently.

We are looking forward for your feedback.

    Sincerely yours,
    Georgi

    Hi Georgi,

Yes, that other report you had recently was me. I resolved this issue and closed that ticket. I forgot to post a reply to this message. The problem was I had SSL on production but not development. I had to go in and uncheck "Requires SSL" on all of my pages.

    This is resolved.
