I seem to be having a bit of trouble with the Amazon s3 configuration. I followed the instructions on at the following URL:

    http://weblogs.asp.net/mehfuzh/archive/2009/01/23/amazon-s3-support-in-sitefinity-3-6.aspx

However, when I create a blog post it appears that the image cannot be found (the red x). The file is uploaded to my bucket as a file with no extension and the name fca4c57ccfef49faad14b929bbc0db66 (is it normal not to have an extension?). I can use http://www.s3fm.com/ and manually add the extension back on to preview the image. So I know its uploading. However in my library it looks like the following:

    test Image (1)

    http://s.amazonaws.com/bucketname/Image/fca4c57ccfef49faad14b929bbc0db66

    View original (517x245)

and then in published blog on my localhost I see the red x as well. In the view source the image src is:

    src="/bucketname/Image/test_Image_1.s3lb"

    Thanks for your help.

    Hello bnye,

You should add mapping for tmb extension and s3lb extension in the IIS.

If you don't want to use mapping you should add ashx extionsion for tmb and s3lb in the web.config file
    <add name="Libraries" urlRewriteFormat="~/{LibraryName}/[Name].s3lb.ashx"  thumbnailExtension=".tmb.ashx" urlDateTimeFormat="yy-MM-dd" urlWhitespaceChar="_" visible="False" defaultMetaField="Name" applicationName="/Libraries" allowVersioning="True" allowLocalization="False" localizationProviderName="" allowWorkflow="False" securityProviderName="" versioningProviderName="" connectionStringName="GenericContentConnection" type="Telerik.Libraries.Data.AmazonProvider, Telerik.Libraries.Data" tagEditorTemplate="~/Sitefinity/Admin/ControlTemplates/Libraries/BatchTagsEditor.ascx" />

If you have any other problems, do not hesitate to contact us.

I apologize for the late response. Your quick fix worked great. Thank you. Can you tell me how the provider works? Does it work like most S3 uploaders and upload first to the web host and then to amazon or is the upload able to upload directly to amazon? So far I have only seen one flash component that uploads directly to amazon. Just curious.

    Thanks for your help,

    Hi bnye,

All file uploads go to Amazon S3 directly. The difference is the Thumbnail images only.

    Kind regards,

    Mehfuz -

We are having similar issues with thumbnails, upload errors and s3 provider. However, it is inconsistent. All seems to work great accept only 75% of the time I get the error "Some files could not be uploaded successfully." (see attached snap) The error happens regardless of file type or size. While the error is annoying the files will upload fine if we choose "Proceed Anyway". Having missing thumbnails is unacceptable. We are looking for an easy fix.
We are running 3.7 community on Win 2008 and Integrated Pipeline and our host is discountasp.net

    Hello VISUCATE,

Could you please check the log file for any exceptions during the upload process? Perhaps this could give us some clue.

    Hello,

I'm having the exact same issue as Visucate  (but my version is Sitefinity Standard 3.7 SP2) And happen in both my computer and discountasp.net server

When I try to upload a image, sometimes works and sometimes doesn't. Even with the same image....

The issue is just with the thumbnail. There is nothing logged in the sitefinity log file.

I think it does not have relation with amazon provider because I had a similar issue in a past project (where I did not use amazon as repository).  The issue was during the development period and only for a few days,  one day started working ( And I did not do anything to solve it) ..

    Any help would be appreciate

This should be also a support ticket?

    Hello Jorge,

We will investigate this issue. We should first find a way to reproduce it locally - hopefully we will be able to do this in a couple of days. I'll check what could be done and will write back to you.

    Hello Jorge,

Update: We think that it's possible that the upload is slow or brakes, therefore the image is not entirely uploaded and no thumbnail is generated. Could you please check if the upload times are too big?

    All the best,

    Hello Georgi,

The files are really small (600kb) so I think it is not the problem.

    Right now, It's only

In my development machine I just follow these steps to recreate the issue:

1 - Create new web site from Sitefinity Admin (Standard 3.7 SP2)
    2 - Change web.config to use Amazon s3
3 - Upload zip file containing 10 pics of  60 kb each (it is the same pic with diferent names). some pictures are displayed (thumbnails) and others not. In the table of the database wich stores the thumbs only are inserted the rows corresponding to the displayed thumbs.

If you want, I can give you access to my test server via support ticket...

    Thanks,

    Jorge

Another issue is that if the Amazon bucket is located in Europe, the files are not uploaded...

I created four buckets 2 in Europe and 2 in America... I tested changing the bucket in the web.config, it only works in the US buckets.

From my S3 client I can upload files to all the buckets, so i think the problem is in sitefinty

    Hello Jorge,

We are aware of issues with Amazon S3 when using zip uploads. Therefore we recommend you using the regular uploads, until we fix the zip upload.

    Hello Georgi,

The issue is also happening when you upload image files. Not in all uploads, It happens randomly...

Uploading the zip file it was just a suggestion to quickly recreate the issue.

I look forward your SP release.

    Thanks,

    Jorge

    Hello Jorge,

Thank you for clarifying the problem.

We will check and test for it once again. We are in the middle of a service pack developing and hopefully we will able to include a fix for this if we reproduce it here. Still I cannot promise you anything for sure.

We will definitely try though, since I understand that this is important for you.

    Thank you for your understanding.
