    Hello,

I'm very interested in v3.0 and am wondering if you can tell me if the product roadmap is still on track for the beginning of October as posted? I know in the past the target dates have sometimes been pushed back at bit as the original date became closer.

Given the updates to the application (Custom workflow, table-less designs, master pages, etc.), I'm sure the entire community is getting excited.

Personally, I have a new major CMS project I am planning to start in late September, but if v3.0 is being released only 1 or 2 weeks after, I'm willing to wait :)

Any hints on the date would be greatly appreciated!

    Thanks,
    Kevin Pipher

Yep, excited here too!! I also have a couple of projects that have been held back to make use of version 3.0. Cant wait to get my hands on it;)

I believe the first beta will be released next week with a second planned at the end of the month, as far as i know the beginning of October is still the planned release date.

    Hi,

The first presentation of Sitefinity 3.0 alpha is planned for later today. We are planning to release beta version in the next couple of weeks.
We also have the intention of releasing second beta version before the official release that is scheduled for October 20th.

    Best regards,

Thanks very much for all of the info.

Will the beta version be available for download for sitefinity customers? Will it be strictly for testing, or will there be a way to move a project created in the beta to the official version when it's released? Perhaps by creating a new project with the official version and pointing it to the existing database from the beta project?

    Hello Kevin,

It's all good news! You will be able to download the beta version from your Client.net account. Projects created with the beta can be easily migrated to the official version as there will be no changes with regard to database. We will be very glad to receive your feedback as you test the new version of Sitefinity.

    Sincerely yours,
    Rebecca

What happened to the alpha presentation?...is that something we get to see?

    Hello,

In regards to the following two quotes, do you have to be on a list or will it be available for us to download?

    Thanks,
    John

    Hi,

Is it possible for me to be on the alpha list as well? I'm keen being waiting for months in expectation.

    Thanks

I was wondering about the new database management tool.  I found a post that discussed a tool called Nolix that Sitefinity will be configured to use. I can't seem to find out anything about the tool.

Can you speak to how database management will be improved. Or is it too early to talk about the specifics?

Will the v3.0 still use .net Membership or will that change? Will it be easier to customize user account inormation?

Can I also receive info on the Alpha while I evaluate Sitefinity?

I am very excited about this next release. Especially the new database management and framework.

    Sincerely,

    Ben

    Hello Ben,

Sitefinity 3.0 will use Nolics.Net 2005 as data access layer (http://www.nolics.com) and it will be shipped  with an OEM license.
The database upgrade will be fully automated and hidden. For example, when a new module is installed, on first load it will automatically compare the defined data objects and the db schema, and upgrade the database if necessary. Also, in Sitefinity 3.0, a wider range of databases will be supported and it will continue to use .NET Membership Services. User account information will be easily managed and validated.

We have added you to our alpha mailing list and we will send it over later today, so you can get a better idea of its new features and architecture. Any feedback will be much appreciated.

    Best wishes,
    Rebecca
