I would like to have predetermained to be added in a master page, specifically a image.  So when the user selects a master page they will have only the controls i have designated.  Is there a way i can have the Image webpart from the CMS appear by default in the content placeholder when a user selects that template?

    Hi collin lawson,

Thank you for using our services.

Master pages which you have done and added to your Sitefinity website can be edited from the Templates section of your administration area. Login to the backend and navigate to Pages->Templates and select the template you wish to edit then click the Edit button. You will be able to add controls to the control placeholders so that these controls appear in all pages using your master page.

    All the best,

Thank you for the response.  I got the controls in the master page but when i go to modify a particular page using that master page i cannot modify the webparts I have added.

    Hello collin lawson,

This is by design. The controls added in templates cannot be edited in pages using those templates. They can be edited only from the template.

Is there a way i can progammatically add the control to the master page so that it will be available as a default control and the user can use the wizard?

    Hello collin lawson,

If you drop the control on your master page through the CMS - not hardcoded in the master page you can use the ControlDesigner if you are using "Classic" edit mode ( there are "Classic" and "Overlay").

You could programmatically add controls to the IPageTemplate using AddControl method of the Staged object.

    Kind regards,

When i Upload a new masterpage and add the controls to that template, when i go to create a page that uses that template I cannot modify those controls.  I want my users to be able to modify the controls that i give them.

    Hello collin lawson,

This is not supported. You can edit the controls only if they are added to a page.
