I am trying to add a favicon to the pages of our website so that that the company icon appears on web browsers. The following is the code that I am trying to add to the <head> tag:

    "link rel="icon" type="image/png" href="http://myURL.com/favicon.png""

The normal template edit controls don't allow me to add the code to the <head> section of the template, and I cannot figure out where and how to modify the site template file (at the code level). Where do I put the icon file on the server so it is picked up by all pages on the website? Can anyone shed some light on this? I am using Sitefinity 3.2

    Hello Elmer,

You can put the favicon file ( its best to be in ICO format not PNG)  in the root directory of your website. The icon will appear shorty but to be sure you can restart the application and clear the cache of your browsers. The path to the image that you show here has to be the root path to your image ( as in the other favicon related thread ). You can use it if you custom master page, and add it in head tags as explained in the other thread. Also I have noticed that you use Sitefinity 3.2 which is pretty old version of the Sitefinity - I would suggest you to move to newer build as our software is evolving with every new version we release.

Much of the code in Sitefinity pages is protected when using the dashboard to edit pages. How can I access the "protected" code within Sitefinity. Is there a module within sitefinity that will allow me access the underlying code? I am using Dreamweaver and have been able to make some changes. What do most developers use to edit this code?

    Hello Elmer,

Tha page content data is being saved in the database. The best tool to use when modifying Sitefinity is Visual Studio as we suggested on our requirements page, but that depends on what you are trying to achieve. In order to make modifications the code of Sitefinity, you have to acquire the source which is option when you acquire professional or enterprise license ( for SF 4 ). If you have more questions about how to acquire the source for 3.7 you can contact our sales department.
