    Hi guys,

I am after the best way to implement a page template where a user can drag'n'drop different column structures.

    i.e.
The page has a standard content area which contains the main content placeholder.

In this placeholder the user needs to be able to use one, two, or three column content areas on the same page to their heart's delight.

So if they place a three column area - in any of those columns can be any control, including generic.content. Than the user is able to place a two column area underneath this and use it also.

Some ASCII art to help visualise the content area.

    [C] [C]
    [C] [C] [C]

Are there any existing controls or placeholders like this?

    Appreciate any help.
    Regards,
    Andrew

    Hi Andrew,

I am not sure that this can be done. You can only drop controls in predefined content placeholders, and cannot have controls which serve as a placeholders for other controls.

    Kind regards,

    Thanks Georgi,

It does seem a bit twisted. For now we have created three main templates set up with the right amount of columns and placeholders, so a page is generated with this in mind. If we need to, we can always generate the html inside it.

Looking at the problem, the solution itself does not need to be a placeholder but act like one, allowing controls inside it... a faux placeholder.

If anyone has actually made a control for controls or has a good column solution, we would love to hear it.
