My website has a public side and then an employee login which takes the user to the Intranet side of the site.

What is the Sitefinity Best Practice here. Create two totally different sites and have the login process redirect the user to the Intranet site altogether or should I keep it as one big site and just not allow anonymous access to the Intranet pages?

Or if there is a third option please feel free to share. I am just now finishing up the public side of things and about to turn inward, so wanted to post this question out here before I got to far down the yellow brick road.

    Thanks as always!

    Hi Garry Clark,

    Thank you for contacting us.

If all the members of the website you are having are employees (meaning all members would have access to your Intranet site), I would suggest that you use the Allow Anonymous property for your pages. In order to configure it, for a page open its properties, and under Security  section you have 2 options for anonymous access - Allow and Deny. Setting this property to deny for a particular page will also hide it from the site map for anonymous users. Please note, that this property is inheritable, and all child pages of a parent page will inherit this setting.

For more information please refer to the security section in our Developer Manual, and check security related articles in Sitefinity Blogs.

If any more questions should arise, please feel free to contact us.

    Sincerely yours,
    Rado

    Rado,
Thank you for your reply and I have started down the path you suggested. However even though I am setting my Security to Deny the Intranet Home page is still displaying on my sitemap to anonymous users.

Any idea what the issue might be?

    Hello Garry Clark,

By default the deny anonymous setting hides the page from anonymous user. Here is an example I have created. In my website, I have created 2 pages that have that property set. My home page and a page called Hidden Page. Please see the attached image how I set it up to be hidden from anonymous. I have also attached images to show the site menu, when I am logged in, and when I am anonymous.

If you want to hide certain pages from a specific user group of users you can go to the Permissions tab of those pages and remove the check from the View check box for that role. This will also hide the page from the Site Menu for that group of users.

    Best wishes,
    Rado

    Rado,
Again thnak you for your reply, but yeah I have my page set the way you do and regardless the Intranet Home page still shows up to anonymous users.

I am using a Site Treeview fo rmy navigation menu, but I also tried the Site Menu to see if maybe it was a bug with the Treeview.

I guess at this point I will open a Support TIcket, but thank you again for your help.
