    We are in the happy and chaotic process of designing a new corporate website in Sitefinity. Is it easy to implement a neat searchbox in the menubar like the one on Telerik? Perhaps I am just missing a built-in function :-)

    At this moment I'm sitting and wireframing a masterpage and some templates. Can I find some best concrete advice/examples somewhere? I guess, if I have pages with a sidebar and pages without a sidebar my masterpage should be without a sidebar - right now it's just no-changing elements such as the menu + footer. As my header changes size (height) in different pages, I guess I can't put that in my master?!

    Thanx for a great community!

    Regards,
    Danni

    Hello Danni Veng,

    You can create item template for a give RadMenuItem and add the search box control there. Sample code can be found below:

    <telerik:RadMenu ID="rm1"  runat="server"
        <Items>
            <telerik:RadMenuItem>
            <ItemTemplate>
                <sb:SearchBox ID="sb1"  runat="server"></sb:SearchBox>
            </ItemTemplate>
            </telerik:RadMenuItem>
        </Items>
    </telerik:RadMenu>

    Generally you have a master page where you define content place holders for your controls. In your theme( under App_Theme folder) you should add all images and styles that will be responsible for a page style.

    Sincerely yours,

    Hello Ivan,

    Thanks for your quick and positive answer.

    Reg. masterpages: I'm making use of the 960 grid and have many different layouts: two-column text, one-column text, text with/without sidebar, ... Can't figure out what that mean in relation to designing my masterpage?

    Hi Danni Veng,

    What Ivan meant was general providing you with general rules. In your specific case, there is no relation. Back to the question, you can place the RadMenu containing the searchbox directly in the master page. Just make sure that the menu is ready - if you hardcode it in the master page, you will not be able to change it via the administration panel.

    Kind regards,
    Georgi
