    I noticed that when I do a properties on thumbnails in a news page that uses the news view control, the thumbnails are just full sized images that are sized down.

    I was under the impression that there was code within Sitefinity that allowed for true generated thumbnails.  What am I missing, and what do I need to put into my template to display a true thumbnail.

    Here is my template code:

    <asp:HyperLink ID="backLink" runat="server" Text="<%$Resources:GoBack %>"></asp:HyperLink>
    <asp:Repeater ID="repeater" runat="server"
        <HeaderTemplate>

        </HeaderTemplate>
        <ItemTemplate>

                <h4>
                    <asp:HyperLink ID="fullContent1" runat="server"
                        <asp:Literal ID="Title" runat="server"></asp:Literal>
                    </asp:HyperLink>
                </h4>
                <class="date"
                    <strong><sf:DateTimeLiteral runat="server" ID="Publication_Date" DateFormatString="D"></sf:DateTimeLiteral></strong
                </p>
                <div class="grid_3 alpha"<asp:PlaceHolder ID="ThumbnailHolder" runat="server"

                    <p><asp:Image ID="thumbnail"  Width="160" runat="server" />

                    </p>
                </asp:PlaceHolder></div
                <div class="grid_9 omega"
                <p>
                    <asp:Literal ID="Summary" runat="server" Text=""></asp:Literal>
                </p>
                <p>
                    <asp:HyperLink ID="fullContent2" runat="server"
                        <asp:Literal ID="LiteralFS" runat="server" Text="<%$Resources:FullStory %>"></asp:Literal>
                    </asp:HyperLink>
                </p>
               </div>
               <hr />
                <div class="clear"></div>
        </ItemTemplate>
        <FooterTemplate>

                <ItemTemplate>
                    <li>
                        <asp:LinkButton ID="SingleItem" runat="server" />
                    </li>
                </ItemTemplate>
                <FooterTemplate>
                    <li><asp:LinkButton ID="NextPage" runat="server" Text="<%$Resources:NextPage %>"></asp:LinkButton></li

            </asp:Repeater>
            <asp:Repeater ID="PageRepeaterHyperLink" runat="server"

                </HeaderTemplate>
                <ItemTemplate>
                    <li>
                        <asp:HyperLink ID="SingleItem" runat="server" />
                    </li>
                </ItemTemplate>
                <FooterTemplate>
                    <li><asp:HyperLink ID="NextPage" runat="server" Text="<%$Resources:NextPage %>"></asp:HyperLink></li
                    </ol>
                </FooterTemplate>
            </asp:Repeater>
        </LayoutTemplate>
    </telerik:Pager>

    Thanks in advance,
    Mark

    Hello Mark,

    You are right that the thumbnail is not resized.

    This is by design though - our UX team wanted the people to have the choice for the thumbnail size. Perhaps we had to develop a logic which resizes the images to smaller ones if they exceed predefined dimensions. Since the images are inserted from the file system or the libraries directly, I cannot suggest you a workaround other than to use resized images instead.

    Sorry that I am not that helpful with this response.

    Best wishes,
    Georgi

    Hey Mark,

    I have some VB code that does true thumbnails. I implemented in a custom HTTP handler for images and remove the Sitefinity handler. Currently it doesn't cache the images you could probably write code to the caching this is still in dev.
