    Hi,

I have a project where the customer is using the sitefinity CMS system. We have new objects that we have created that are specific to the customers requirements. In our example they are a sports team, the new objects are "player" and "game".

The client wants to use the Video, Photo and file library and link photos, videos and other files to players and games.

Then we have to build modules that will show all Videos that relate to a player, and all photos that relate to a game, etc.

Can you recommend me to any example of implementations like this? or advice on where to start.

In integrations I've done like this before I've simply tapped into the raw SQL tables and built it up form there, but i'm not sure if there is anything in the applcation layer that i might be better to make use on in sitefinity.

    Thanks,

    Joel

    hey joel,

I am building a similar sports website, and i am thinking of going with sitefinity. I am still evaluating sitefinity as i need multilanguage. Could you keep me posted about your project?

    Thanks

    Hi Joel,

It really depends on what are the exact needs for your project.

There are several options that you can use.

    1. You can create a custom module that inherits from Images and Documents and customize it - create one module for the player and one for the game.

    2. Create 2 additional providers for images and documents module - player and game. Here you will use the built in Images and Documents module , but you will have two providers. Each provider can be managed with different categories and tags, so that you can easily get the information regarding a player or a game on the front end.

    Useful resources.

So I've found some source code now. But I'm having two issues with inheriting the control.

The first issue is the control i was using had the information assigned by a parent control, it was not added to page like these controls.

For example with a gallery control normally you would add it to a page in the admin area, then assign it what galleries to show. I want to programatically decide this, I'm using tags to assing photo and video to my custom objects so i need to filter programatically based on this.

The Second issue I am having is that i need to display a list of Videos, Photos, and Documents inside the player and game module, in the ascx template they only ever have one repeater, so i assuming this cannot be done using them, so I am unsure as to where to begin here.

    Thanks,

    Joel
