    Hi,

I'm getting a strnage behavior with update user method. I set requiresUniqueEmail property to true in the web.config. It works fine when I'm creating the user and warns me for duplicate emails. However, when I tried to update the existing user, it is allowing duplicate emails (I'm calling the Membership.UpdateUser method in my user control).

Am I missing some basics here?

    Thanks & regards
    GV

    Hi GV,

The property applies only the the newly created users. The RequiresUniqueEmail property indicates whether users must supply a unique e-mail address value when creating a user.

    Hello GV,

This is a property of the ASP.NET Membership provider.

    Thanks Ivan,
I think this behavoir is specific to Sitefinity provider which overrides the Asp.net membership provider. What I found is that the sitefinity membership settings in web.config (eg:minRequiredPasswordLength, requiresUniqueEmail) are applied only during user creation. Those rules won't apply when you are editing the login details/changing the password.
This is not the case with default asp.net mebeship provider which applies those rules even while editing the login details.

Is it the expected behavior or am I missing some settings?

    Thanks & regards
    GV

    Hi GV,

You are right, we have missed the check when you edit an user. We are going to release a SP withing a week so the problem will be fixed there. We updated your Telerik points.
