    hi,
I would like to use the date created/Published as found in the history of a page, or content page, and have it show up automatically as the content is updated.  I need this so when users print content the documents are dated accordingly, but it need to be automatic so it can't be falsified.  Is there a way to accomplish this?

    Thanks,
    Peter

    Hi Peter Roth,

It is possible to use the date property of the different page versions, it is also possible to access the date created/date modified metafields of the news/blogs module items.

However, I am not sure I understand your request. As I see the situation, you need pages with some content on them (generic content, news items, blog posts) and for every content item, a date that cannot be changed.

This is already done for the News module. When a single news item is shown on a page, the publication date is also displayed. To protect it from falsification, you could disable the Rad Datepicker control, responsible for the publication date, in these two templates:
    ~/Sitefinity/Admin/ControlTemplates/News/ControlPanelEdit.aspx and
    ~/Sitefinity/Admin/ControlTemplates/News/ControlPanelInsert.aspx.
So when a news item is created or edited, the publication date cannot be set.

I hope this example is helpful. Could you please describe in more detail what exactly you need to achieve?

    Sincerely yours,
    Yasen

    Yasen,
Actually, The date needs to be changed when updated, as of the date it was published.  So if they make an update to the content, it automatically throws in the new date.  I would be creating a living document, so content changes need to be dated.

    Thanks,
    Peter

    Hello Peter Roth,

Could you please specify where exactly you want the date to appear? Adding it in the public web site would be an easy task, in comparison to doing this for the administration area. Please state which are the modules, which should have this functionality. Also, when you are talking about printing, which would be the phase when you will print - while you are editing the content or once it is published.

    Thank you for your cooperation.

    Regards,
    Nikifor
