Is there a way to bind the RadTabStrip to the Generic Content Items, more specifically a Category in the generic content items?

My objective is to use the RadTabStrip control and make it possible to edit the tab titles and panel contents from the CMS. I don't know if there is a better way to do this, but it would seem to make a lot of sense to simply be able to bind the RadTabStrip to a category in the Generic Content.

I guess if this is not possible in any way, this would be a feature request :)

    thanks,

    Hello James,

yes this is possible since you can get the list of categories in and then bind it to the RadTabStrip. For information on how to get the list of categories please examine following pages:
    http://www.sitefinity.com/help/developer-manual/categories-get.html
    http://www.sitefinity.com/help/developer-manual/generic-content-api-overview.html
    http://www.sitefinity.com/help/developer-manual/important-interfaces-generic-content.html

for more information on data binding in RadTabStrip you can take a look at this article:
    http://www.telerik.com/help/aspnet-ajax/tab_databindingoverview.html

All in all, the task is failry simple. The simplest way to achieve this is to create a new user control, place RadTabStrip on it and then in page load event handler you take advantage of the Generic Content API and retrieve a list of categories, which you use then as a data source for the RadTabStrip.

I hope you'll find this information helpful. Let us know if there is anything else we can do for you.

    Kind regards,
    Ivan
