I'm using sitefinity 3.7
I have to provide links to the content of a blog based on tags and categories. The "obvious" way seemed to be to use the QueryString Keys, but this resulted in a number of problems: mainly, when you click the Back to List links from the item pages, you get routed back to the unfiltered list, instead of persisting the QueryStrings.
OK. So they are all short posts and I can just display the QueryString filtered content as an expanded list, right? Well, sort of, so long as the user doesn't click on the hyperlinked title that sends them to the item page and we're back to square one.
So what I need is:
1. A link to the video that shows how to derive a custom BlogPosts control (I'm sure I have seen one, but can't for the life of me find it now). With a MyBlogPosts control, I imagine myself controlling what gets displayed and being very happy, with time to go out with the wife.
2. If 1. is not available, a link to articles, KBs, samples or whatever to help me to get started and be at least content and be able to promise the wife that we will go out next week.
3. Any advice as to what I should be doing, if not the above. You don't need to tell me to just switch the pc off and go out anyway cos that's what I'll do. I love her, see?
Part of the problem is that I am using the Sitefinity blogs "creatively": I am using them to hold categorised and tagged information that the user can easily navigate. Ie, they are not just lists of me, me, me posts, but instead, for example, lists of hotel accommodation in South America, categorized by country and tagged by available activities, such as dancing tango, samba or lambada.
Should I develop a custom module for this? How much work would that be?
Thanks any suggestions.
