After enabling categories in the Images & Documents module, is it possible to filter the list by Category? I have read the other threads about using the SelectedCategories property under the Obsolete Properties, but it's useless.

    Any help would be appreciated.

    Hi Eric,

If you are talking about one of the controls, yes it is possible to filter by category using FilterExpression property under "Filters" category of the control properties. The syntax is as follows Category = "categoryName" or Category IN ("cateogoryName")

Let us know if there is anything else that we can do for you.

    Ivan,
I can't seem to get Category IS NOT NULL to work. I want to only display items in Image Gallery that have been categorized.

Currently my filter is set to "ParentID IN (3c51aedf-96cc-40c1-9126-83720005b1a8) AND Category IS NOT NULL"
     and throws the message:

Condition 'IS' is not supported. Supported conditions are :
    • =
    • <>
    • >
    • <
    • >=
    • <=
    • IN
    • LIKE
    • IS NULL
    • IS NOT NULL
Join type 'NULL' is not supported.

Couldn't seem to find anything on the forums that referenced this.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

    Ivan,
After monkeying with this I got it to work by doing a Category <> "". Should I not use IS NOT NULL then?

    Hello Garry Clark,

This is actually a problem with the current ORM provider that Sitefinity uses - Nolics.NET. Since Nolics.NET O/RM has a lot of limitations like this we have decided to change it in our next major version - Sitefinity 4.0. From Sitefinity 4.0 we will be using the Telerik Open Access ORM.

Thanks for the response Ivan. I know I have been sitting around like a kid at Christmas excitedly awaiting the release of 4.0. I have been given a guessimation by Mallsoft that it could possibly be in September.

    Any truth to this? :)

    Thanks again!

    Hi Garry Clark,

Trust me we are all as excited as you are for the new version of Sitefinity. Although we do not have any dates set in stone yet. Our estimations are that we will have a CTP in October, then a beta later and finally the official release in 2010.

    Best wishes,
    Rado

    Rado,
Apologies in calling you Ivan :)

This probably not the thread to ask, but I just rolled out about 4 months of work on several Sitefinity 3.x pluggable modules, but I did use OpenAccess as my DAL in hopes that it would make the migration to 4.0 easier.

Do you guys have any idea as to how much code I will have to migrate in order to make these work with 4.0?

    Hi Garry Clark,

By default pluggable modules developed for Sitefinity 3.6 or 3.7 should work in Sitefinity 4.0 with little or no revision. However it also depends on the practices that you have employed while developing those modules. In that line of thought I am not able to give you an accurate prediction on what you will need to modify with your modules in order to import them into Sitefinity 4.0 until the version is out and you try to import them.

I know that my answer is a little bit in the gray area but I can not be more accurate right now. If you have more questions, please feel free to contact us.
