Absolutely new to Sitefinity. Installed it, and tried everything now.  It is now the point to take the thinking a bit further.

Today I develop asp.net page for my clients with telerik web.ui and have full controll over everything so when I would start to use sitefinity I would soon come to a point were I want to be able to use my own stuff.

Lets say I would like to have the newsletter sign up build myself because I want an e-mail sent to the client where he must click a link to sign up for the newsletter.

Classic I would have just an page with codebehind that does all my stuff. Also based on my master page.

How about it in sitefinity. How would I go about.

I still want to use some sitefinity stuff. Lets say Navigation on top, Language dropdonwbox on the left side and my custom form with the codebehind stuff in the right side.

How would I do it. Build as ascx page and upload it?

    Regards
    Markus

    Hi Markus Berchtold,

There are a couple of ways to achieve, what you need. Sitefinity makes it quite easy to upload and reuse User controls or Custom controls within your projects.

What you need to do is to create and upload your user controls as described in the article below:

    http://www.sitefinity.com/help/developer-manual/controls-adding-controls-to-sitefinity.html

It is entirely up to you if you would like to upload a user control (.ascx) or Custom control (compiled .dll).

Moreover you also have the ability to upload your Master pages and use them as a template for your pages, in almost the same way as you would have done for your non Sitefinity projects.

    For more information:

    http://www.sitefinity.com/help/developer-manual/creating-and-importing-master-pages.html

Another option is extending the built-in controls in Sitefinity and providing additional functionality to meet your requirements.

For more details, please have a look at:

    http://www.sitefinity.com/help/developer-manual/extending-built-in-controls-content-view-control.html

    Hope that helps!

    Kind regards,
